Any advice for new grad adult-geri NP who passed ANCC exam and now learned the program did not get accredited. Now ANCC will not release results to any BON.

I owe a huge amount of student loans and cannot get an NP license.

Can someone advise me what to do? The VP of school says we have a valid MSN but cannot practice until school gets accreditation.

Please advise!!!

how is this possible? did the school lose accreditation during your attendance or did they not have it before you started? Surely you didnt attend a program that wasn't accredited?

I would gather all documents emails and .notes about conversations with school administrators and take it to an attorney who has no connection to this school.

It is not clear what advice you are seeking? The school that you attended essentially told you your degree is useless and ANCC is refusing to release your exam results to ANY BON. You have to accept some amount of responsibility to first, attend an unaccredited program to begin with. There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of accredited MSN/NP Programs out there, yet, for some unknown reason, you consciously elected to attend an unaccredited program. WHY??? Why take the risk based on the promises of some self-serving institution, who is now claiming that you have a "valid" MSN degree, even though you cannot do anything with this degree. What is even more egregious, is your attempt at concealing the name of the institution. Most individuals in your position would be so outraged at such a school, they would be quick to publicize the name of the school and warn others to stay away from this institution. My guess is you want others to suffer the same fate as yourself by not mentioning the name of the institution explicitly.

This site alone has maybe a million and one "warnings" about pursuing degree programs at unaccredited institutions. Seeking advice at this late stage is pretty lame, IMHO.

Hope a post-masters program will bail you out or that was an expensive err.

Looks like you need to be speaking with a lawyer about this and in the meantime, start back from scratch with an accredited program. I honestly feel sorry for you but never give up until you see results. Good luck!

I sure did attend a sch that was not accredited!!!! 40 lashes....I know hindsight is 20/20. We were led to believe that it would be no problem obtaining accreditation. I was accredited for all undergrad nursing and it was a new program at a reputable private sch.

Can't do that yet due to impending litigation if this is not remedied.

I am already feeling terrible about my decision and the ramifications. I am attending a meeting tomorrow at the school to determine why we were not accredited after being reassured this would happen. After I get an answer tomorrow on what went wrong with process, I will be more that happy to provide further info. Chastising me for my stupidity is not helping any. We (students) agreed to listen to there plan tomorrow prior to discussing publicly.

I am sick over this. I am really dumb but I didn't even know there were non accredited NP schools out there. I see those fly by night for like medical asst, or LVN, but master's level NP program??? Holy Cow! come to think of it, there area a lot of commercials for the non brick/morter schools these days. Haven't paid any attention. You are in my prayers.
