With the economy still improving I'm guessing that there isn't much in terms of incentives. But, I won't be surprised if there are still a few available out there. Does your work place offer any incentives for new nurses? How about for current employees moving from one position to another? Were you offered any incentives when you were hired? What was it and how long ago was this?

My incentive was that I was offered a job. And the bonus was I also got some free reference cards for my badge.

The only places offering incentives are the ones so bad, they have to "buy" a nurse to work there.
Beware of a facility offering sign on bonuses. Especially in a time when there are so many nurses looking for jobs.

Although, I think I could be bought with a new car.
    Or maybe not.

I think i saw the local prison offering a sign on bonus. Who knows what the terms were though. Hospital incentives are "you're being mandated to work another 8 hours and the incentive is that you get to keep your job." (and who told you that the economy is improving?)

The local Magnet hospitals is offering $5K sign on bonus for experienced ICU nurses, or was a few weeks ago the last time I was on their website.

I got $5K sign on AND $5K relocation as a brand new grad back in the mid 90's. I applied for several jobs and was offered every one. Back then hospitals had to be nice to their nurses or risk losing them. No wonder they created the current glut of nurses.

At the hospital I'm about to leave, I got $1,000 for relocation expenses. If I was an experienced nurse, I would receive a bonus of $20,000. I don't know if they still offer that or not. Yes, it's true to beware of a facility offering sign-on bonuses. This particular hospital is a terrible place to work. Frequent threats of mandatory stays, unsafe assignments, pay is not good, and very bad scheduling options. I would not recommend experienced nurses work at this hospital if they can help it. For new grads, since job pickings are slim, I recommend working for a year and then getting out.

My hospital offers tuition reimbursement and relocation packages (I am local, so I didn't get that). We have some other perks and some great local discounts. I was a new grad. I have no idea about experienced nurses.

The good ole days. When all you had to do was say "I'll work" and you were hired.

Almost 9 years ago, I had a phone interview and my in person interview was a formality-and I was a new grad (LPN). My turnover from interview to work was three weeks; one employer called me as soon as my license was up!

I do long for the days-as a now "new" RN!

There was no incentives offered during my time in the 90's.I remembered in 2004 our hospital was offering $5 k sign on and $ 5 k referrals. My hubby can't believe I called up almost everyone on my list to apply just to get the referrals.I ended up getting nothing since the offer is only good for a limited period of time and that I was late...
