Totally random question... I was doing this yoga video, and in the beginning it said that menstruating women shouldn't do inverted poses. I can't figure it out. It's not like I have a hole on the top of my uterus that's going to make me menstruate all over my liver or something. Is there any rationale for this? I don't do women's health, after all...

silly, isn't it. yogic traditional medicine, aka "superstition".
6. The older men in the family started to ignore you at about 12 or 13 because it was possible for you to have started your period by then. My father did not treat me that way, but grandfathers and older uncles did. The priest avoided you like the plague.
I'm so glad I wasn't taught hardly any of that stuff! I was taught to only sponge bathe and not take a bath on my period. In a desperate attempt to get clean one time, I discovered on my own that baths don't hurt you, and the bathtub does NOT get filled with blood. If anything the presence of water seems to hold back the flow so one can wash normally.
As far as men ignoring me, that only happened after I got married! If I realized that I was going to be invisible to half the population after I married, I might have stayed single longer! :uhoh21:
:uhoh21: [quote=P_RNOh you could go to the drugstore and mention to the soda jerk that you wanted an "ammonia coke" :beercuphe but you had to whisper it.

I'm scared to ask!!! What on earth is THAT, and what's it for???
In the 30's and 40's you could order a coke with a drop of ammonia in it. It was supposed to make you feel better, if you were sad or felt faint, or tired. Symptoms during menstruation. Only, ladies had to whisper the order!!
Go figure!!!!!!!

No, but the uterus is connected to the fallopian tubes, tubes are connected to the.... to the....? There is a space between your fallopian tubes and the ovaries. Some theories say that tampons and I'm assuming hanging upside down can lead to retrograde flow, which I think some believe leads to endometrosis.I think that's their reasoning. -Andrea
then dont lay down when u got it cause that could happen, lol there is not gravity when u lay down.........

That's what I was thinking. Also what about if you put pillows under your aching back and put your feet up? Maybe that explains my ovarian cysts! LOL:) So does having sex have the same effect? I know you are all thinking it but nobody asked. That is the best excuse yet to get rid of the husband when you are really not in the mood and just getting over your period.
