Hey all! I am reapplying and wanted to create this for everyone applying. I won't be as involved as I was last year, but good luck to everyone! I know they're having seminars and allowing people to schedule one on one consultations for applications.

2 work weeks of interviews, 30 mins each, 8-5 = 180 interviews.
A cohort of 90-100 students, even for a place as storied as Yale, requires about 120-140 admissions.
Calculate these numbers, and you get an admissions rate of 60-75% depending on how cruelly or benevolently my approximations shift in the real.
Tentative congratulations all, stay frosty but you're in the likelier than not category at this point.
Thanks for mathing this out for us! I do wonder if they are actually doing interviews all day back to back like that? Plus as someone mentioned since there are multiple interviewers there could be multiple interviews per time slot or overlapping time slots. My guess is the percentage admitted will be a little lower than this, but still solidly good odds (I’m guessing around 50/50)

So I’d say that is the percentage who will be Initially admitted or waitlisted (Assuming the numbers are correct).
I didn't realize a chunk of the number were people who were waitlisted then got in. Do you know around what percetnage that was in past years? And when do they let waitlisted people know they were admitted? That's hard to move on such short notice, especially for out of state folks.
I emailed Jana and here's what I got!
For the glitch: she said those who did not get an email, check your spam. She also said gmail has been going haywire lately(given the traffic over the holidays and for students trying to find out grades for school, that makes a lot of sense). She said she will be trying to send out personal emails again before the week is out, bless that hard working woman for doing that over the Christmas holiday!!
Admissions stats: she said she would wonder too but unfortunately does not have the info regarding this year specifically just yet. She will get back to me about it.
For any current students or alumni, I know some great advice was offered a little further back in the thread about interviewing, but any advice you could offer regarding how to answer questions/stand out answering, general demeanor to have, some no nos to avoid, etc would be much appreciated!!
Also, as someone said earlier in their post, for those who were not invited to interview, I'm so sorry. Those of us who reapplied all understand that feeling. When I got denied an interview, I immediately turned off all notifications from the thread because it hurt too much. It confirmed my imposter syndrome as well. However, talking to Jana throughly made me feel like I had a chance if I reapplied again. Please don't give up! You are worthy, awesome, and it's not uncommon for people with great resumes to still have to reapply rhe next cycle. Trust me, I know of a few with resumes that are impeccable that got denied from grad school the first time they applied . So I understand if it's not in your interest to continue looking at the forum after this, but please take Jana up on her offer to discuss what to do for next year. I'm not gonna say just don't feel anything because I know how I felt when it happened. There is hope though, and if you applied to other schools don't think you won't get into those either.

I’m no expert or anything ? that’s my impression just from reading that post (and others past). They know not everyone who is admitted will take the seat. But if there’s 100 seats I don’t think they’ll admit 140 right off the bat, in case they have a high percentage of enrollment. Also from past threads, movement on wait lists is very unpredictable. My impression is for the current cohort an unusually large lot of people got offered from wait lists (at all schools not just Yale) because a lot of those admitted initially turned down/deferred their seat due to Covid. We’ve also speculated earlier on this thread that it may be a tougher year to get admitted, since they probably have a lot of deferrals enrolling this fall, not to mention (according to Jana’s last email) a high number of applicants (although perhaps the latter is not relevant if we made it to interviews??)
Good thing it sounds like Jana will tell us at some point. Much better than me speculating.
I’d be surprised if the odds are worse than 50/50. Especially if you include waitlist.
I posted this earlier in the thread but this is what I’m expecting in the interview based on previous years’ threads (can you tell I’ve been stalking for years ?) -
From combing last year's threads, I'd expect at least the basics - tell us about yourself, why nursing/(your speciality), why Yale, how do you add to diversity of the school. Be able to show you really understand the role of an advanced practice nurse (I believe this is one of the most important things). Have at least a few anecdotes of how you handle conflict, overcome an obstacle, strengths and weaknesses. Also have a few questions to ask the interviewer about the program.
Again from reading past threads, it seems many interviews were super conversational. Also, they said the interviewers had always carefully combed the applicants essays/resume, so be fresh on what's in there and prepared to expound on your experiences.

I have it written down that Jana previously said that it would be “early February” when discussing it during the informational session held earlier in the process.

Do we know if the short essays are part of the questions they usually ask about as well? One of my responses was extremely personal and made me emotional to even write about, I'd like to mentally prepare myself if I need to talk about it.

Sorry to hear it’s so challenging to talk about you short essay, but I would imagine we would need to be prepared to talk about all of our essays.

I'm gonna screenshot this so I can remember to ask about deferrals. I know I asked her earlier in the year about deferrals affecting the numbers and she made it seem as if the numbers should not be thrown off terribly from it. But I'll make sure to ask again. I expect 50 50 or hopefully better, but as you said, I think it'll alleviate my and others anxiety to know for sure ?
