Yale GEPN 2021

Published

Hey all! I am reapplying and wanted to create this for everyone applying. I won't be as involved as I was last year, but good luck to everyone! I know they're having seminars and allowing people to schedule one on one consultations for applications.

Sorry I did not say good luck to everyone  I've been super busy with working since Friday and will be until christmas. It was a nice distraction from decision time. Anyway congrats to everyone who got an interview invite!! I'm also super curious about the interview admissions stats. I know I asked J once but I forgot to write down her answers, rookie mistake! Maybe we can ask.....do you all think it would be in bad taste to ask?

Received an interview for FNP!!  ?

I was also wondering what the stats are for acceptances after interviews...?

Congrats to everyone thats been offered an invitation to interview!! ? ?

Has anyone asked about why some of us received the prompt to check our portal, and others didn't? That makes me anxious! @birthworker was the email that they refreshed the system just to you, or a full blast?

I can't give an exact post interview attrition rate, but we can approximate from the following:

2 work weeks of interviews, 30 mins each, 8-5 = 180 interviews.

A cohort of 90-100 students, even for a place as storied as Yale, requires about 120-140 admissions.

Calculate these numbers, and you get an admissions rate of 60-75% depending on how cruelly or benevolently my approximations shift in the real.

Tentative congratulations all, stay frosty but you're in the likelier than not category at this point.

Whoa @GreenMagus87, I'm thoroughly impressed at the math either way. I may take one for the team to ask J how accurate those numbers would be in real life.

Hah! Well ty, one of the few perks of being a math undergrad is that your brain naturally thinks in GRE questions... well, perk or double-edged sword depending on perspective and context. ?

You're definitely right about context haha.  As a person whose brain just said absolutely not to gre styled math questions, I'm jealous ??. Give me dense articles and clinical stuff all day, but math...... not my strongest suit.

@Psychmeout2 if you do decide to take one for the team about the stats, please also mention the fact that a lot of us never received an email telling us to check our email! I think we would all have a great appreciate for you for both of those things ❤️❤️❤️

I'll probably say that first and then say since I'm already emailing, let me ask about admissions too ??. I know I got an automatic reply about being off for the holidays until the 4th, so we shall see!

Hard to guesstimate because the interviews aren’t back to back, ie there was one slot at 10am and one at 1015am for PMHNP. Since they’re one to one I’m sure the spacing is just based on faculty availability. I think an earlier year’s thread said something like 50% at interview stage, but would be curious if anyone does reach out to Jana.

Estimated stats were posted (by a current student I believe) here:

The email response from Jana was directly to me, though she refreshed the system for everyone.
