Yale GEPN 2019

Published

Like midwifery students of past years, I as well have fallen in love with Yale's GEPN Midwifery program. This question is about the personal statement.

Ive been told that this is the most important part of the application, and that it should tell your story. This was said by Dr. Korevec during the informational, so I'm fairly confident in knowing that's what they want. It should explain why Yale and why nursing. However, whenever someone proofreads my personal statement, they know I'm applying to Yale and say it reads too much like a story and not like a college application essay. It's happened like 3 times and now I'm not sure what to do. Any advice?

thanks!

Hi guys!

Just wanted to put everyone who's in the same position's minds are uneasy to rest. I haven't heard back either. I submitted on 1 October for midwife/WHNP.

No news isn't the same as a rejection :)

Definitely true! I do wonder why they decided to release the decisions in waves though... Seems a little cruel haha!

And as I'm anxiously posting this morning, I receive an email... I'm interviewing on november 13th! Best of luck everybody!!!

Congrats! When did you get the complete email from Sandy?

I just got an interview for December 7th for WHNP!

Same here. I'm also applying for FNP and have not heard back either. I've been marked complete since September 11 so things are not looking so good for me haha.

I'm also waiting for FNP. I'm hoping since some people are still applying they won't decide on rejections just yet. Waiting is really hard though.

I've been complete since the October 2nd. It seems no one has heard back for FNP though on this forum. So hard to stay positive. From previous years FNP usually has more applicants so maybe thats why its taking longer for them to get through us all. fingers crossed.

For any current GEPNs.

Is it pretty common for most people to have the traditional prerequisites completed like Human Anatomy and Physiology 1+2, microbiology and stats?

I'm planning to take stats and A & P 1 and 2 in the spring and summer before the program begins.

I heard back today for PMH and was complete September 26th, I got really nervous when people who applied the 1st got the email before me, but it seems like they threw us all together in a complete by Oct 1st pile and are getting through them. FNp being the largest and therefore slowest makes a lot of sense. Good luck!! I know exactly how anxiety producing this week is for us who didn't hear back on Saturday.

I got the email saying it was complete on Oct.2!
