Yale GEPN 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Like midwifery students of past years, I as well have fallen in love with Yale's GEPN Midwifery program. This question is about the personal statement.

Ive been told that this is the most important part of the application, and that it should tell your story. This was said by Dr. Korevec during the informational, so I'm fairly confident in knowing that's what they want. It should explain why Yale and why nursing. However, whenever someone proofreads my personal statement, they know I'm applying to Yale and say it reads too much like a story and not like a college application essay. It's happened like 3 times and now I'm not sure what to do. Any advice?

thanks!

I totally get it, same here. Stuff came up suddenly so I couldn't afford to take it now even if I wanted to. No way! Nursing needs people in this field who are passionate and sure of what they want to do, you're definitely worthy. Please don't give up! Plus, I'm sure there's some part in the application where you can explain extenuating circumstances. Even if it's somewhere in a short paragraph in your personal essay.

Yea, I already explained it in my essay. I really hope it works out because I really do want this.

I was accepted with atrocious Quant scores (nowhere near their recommended score) and none of the pre-requisites. Yale wants to know who you are and how you will contribute to the world.

Thanks for adding your experience into the mix. None of the schools I'm applying to require the GRE, except for Yale. I have intense test anxiety, and while I've been doing okay on the verbal side, my quant is horrible. I have 3.6 CGPA and 3.8 pre-requisite GPA but it sounds like it goes both ways - neither an amazing GRE score nor poor GPA scores determine admission. They just tell one side of the story and we get to tell the rest.

Would anyone in the current class be able to share their experience in the GEPN program so far? I am so interested in this program and making the financial aspect of this work, but I'd just like to know whether others have found they were and still are happy with their decision to attend this program!

hi guys. I've been lurking around here. Quick q! Did anyone here just apply to the MSN? Not have the GEPN year? I can't seem to find much information about just the MSN. Anyone know how competitive it is?
