Like midwifery students of past years, I as well have fallen in love with Yale's GEPN Midwifery program. This question is about the personal statement.
Ive been told that this is the most important part of the application, and that it should tell your story. This was said by Dr. Korevec during the informational, so I'm fairly confident in knowing that's what they want. It should explain why Yale and why nursing. However, whenever someone proofreads my personal statement, they know I'm applying to Yale and say it reads too much like a story and not like a college application essay. It's happened like 3 times and now I'm not sure what to do. Any advice?
thanks!

Was wondering if any of you who went to the Admitted Students Day could provide us with some of your first impressions. What did you think of the program? The campus? New Haven? Would appreciate any insight at all!
I really loved it— the cohort seemed very close-knit and the sim lab was amazing. Everyone was very clear that the GEPN year is unbelievably intense (it seemed more intense than the ABSN year of the other direct-entry programs I’m looking at). West Campus is definitely separated from the rest of Yale— you gotta drive or take a shuttle to get there. There were lots of really cool service opportunities there. Faculty seemed really great. (One student said that while a lot of the teachers were amazing, about one every semester was lackluster and clearly a better researcher than teacher.) They were touting all the student wellness resources there, though I don’t know how many students use them. A lot of students live in East Rock, but many also live downtown if they want a more urban feel.

In the event that I need to make that decision, I was wondering if there was anyone else in the same boat, and if they had any insights. Thank you!
Also in that boat (for FNP, though). I’m just gonna have to put down the $600 for Yale. You should also reach out to admissions and talk to them.

^^upvote but for WHNP/CNM
So, this might not be great news to people on the waitlist... I found out today that YSN has exceeded their enrollment targets in ALL specialty areas.
Don’t give up hope— some people might have paid the deposit but are still waiting to hear back from other schools. But this sounded like relevant info to some of you so I thought I’d pass it on.

Thank you so much! Very helpful. My credentials are pretty much the opposite of yours - less than stellar cumulative GPA (3.4), but I'm a doula and I'm working towards IBCLC certification. Hopefully that and my experience shadowing midwives will offset my GPA!
