There didn't seem to be a main thread for applicants to Yale's GEPN program this year, so I thought I'd get one started. I'm applying for the midwifery specialty and am currently working on my application essays, having done everything else.
Is anyone else really struggling with the main essay? I've finished my apps to two other programs and was happy with how those essays came out, but Yale's essay guidelines as so restrictive that I feel like my essay is turning out all disjointed. The fact that we have to answer every aspect of every question in *exactly the order they list* (this is apparently something that you need to take very seriously) means that I'm having to tie myself in knots. I want it to be not only informative about me as an applicant but also a good piece of writing - and I feel like the essay format is making this kind of difficult.
ha ha! i don't want to be a nag! I have thought of emailing...again, don't want I be labeled the "annoying applicant"! I might crumble and send a quick note - ill keep you posted if I do!
i emailed too - before i saw your post! she replied right away to me. writing:
i am honestly not sure of the exact date. it will be before we break for holiday recess here at yale. if time allows i will try and send an e-mail to everyone letting them know when to be on the lookout. the interview invitation letters will come via e-mail.

Yep, here's my answer from admissions: "The committee hasn't yet finalized the interview decisions just yet. I can tell you the interview dates will be January 19 or January 20; January 26 or January 27. We will definitely get interview notifications out prior to the University going on holiday recess. They will come via e-mail."
According to the academic calendar on Yale's web site, their winter break begins on 12-17. So we'll hear next week!
oh my! oh my! i am all jittery!!! remind me your specialty choices again? i feel like we are the only ones utilizing this board. i'm delighted to have folk to go through this with.
sounds like we will know sometime around the 15-16th then... dun dun dun...agghhhh!!!
