There didn't seem to be a main thread for applicants to Yale's GEPN program this year, so I thought I'd get one started. I'm applying for the midwifery specialty and am currently working on my application essays, having done everything else.
Is anyone else really struggling with the main essay? I've finished my apps to two other programs and was happy with how those essays came out, but Yale's essay guidelines as so restrictive that I feel like my essay is turning out all disjointed. The fact that we have to answer every aspect of every question in *exactly the order they list* (this is apparently something that you need to take very seriously) means that I'm having to tie myself in knots. I want it to be not only informative about me as an applicant but also a good piece of writing - and I feel like the essay format is making this kind of difficult.
Anyone else out there applying?
Congrats to all of you who are done with your interviews! It's an awesome accomplishment, and now as you all know, you'll have to endure the torture of waiting to find out. :) Those of you I met seem like a fantastic batch of prospective students and we'll be lucky to have you.
Hope everything goes well for people! Feel free to ask more questions - I'd love an excuse to procrastinate studying for my exams next week

I know that somewhere between 300-400 applications were received. My estimation is that about half of those people got interviews, and they said yesterday that they only have 66 spots rather than 88 as in most years.
I came away from the day loving Yale even more than before. It's far and away my top choice.

My thoughts are going out to all of the applicants who are interviewing today and tomorrow. Good luck!
simplekategirl is right: The interviewers will have everyone's information in a folder. I was also wondering whether to bring copies of my resume and essay, but decided against it, and it turned out to be unnecessary.
