It didn't look like there was a thread for 2011 Yale GEPN applicants. Since the application recently opened, I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is starting to work on their application.
Anyone else out there?
Waitlisted . I guess thats better than nothing and I'll keep my hopes up and send out some prayers until Columbia has to know on the 21st.
I had applied for the Psych Family program and was waitlisted for that program. But I did let the admissions committee know (and just reminded them through email tonight) that I do have an interest in the adult track since I've recently started working with adult psych patients. Maybe a spot will open up or they'll reconsider me for the adult track. Good luck to the rest of you!
CONGRATS!!! Hopefully WilliamsRower and I will be joining you in the psych cohort! Did you apply for family or adult? Are there certain populations/disorders you would like to work with? I have been working in psychiatric research with patients diagnosed with schizophrenia for the past 5 years and am hoping to stay focused on this population. So excited to meet all of you in September!
P.S. Is it weird that I've been wearing the Yale sweatshirt I bought during my interview EVERY DAY this week (don't worry I washed it
) at work to channel good energy - even as we speak...or type?! Haha.
Excited to meet you too! I applied for family, but as for a specific population? The short answer is that I want to work with issues relating to obesity. Schizophrenia sounds like a fascinating yet challenging focus!
Accepts/rejects are due by March 21st.
This includes a $600 deposit as well, sigh.
I have been bananas all day after getting my sweet, sweet letter of joy and happiness...Couldn't calm down so I went for a 5.5 mile jog. That wasn't good enough, so I then walked up and down my quarter mile street (with a beast of a hill) five times. It's now 10 minutes midnight (EC) and I still can't seem to chill out. Maybe instead of becoming a Psych NP, I should seek the help of a psych NP?
On another note, I am so excited to hear more and more as everyone gets their letters! I also have to say that the opening line in the acceptance letter mentions that there was a truly exceptional pool of applicants this year, and I couldn't agree more. Honestly, throughout my interview day, I was quite intimidated to hear of all the fabulous things everyone around me had/was doing in their lives. I am honored and humbled to be among all of you; and I look forward to crossing paths with those of you who do not attend Yale, down the line in our brilliant careers as NPs!!!
