Do you ever feel like you work at "Wrongway"?
I had to attend The Hypocritical Superfluous Dog & Pony Show Safety Review Day Inservice at Wrongway on Tuesday.
I sat next to Ranger Rodd, RN and Johnny June, Tech. Johnny said to me afterwards, "I'd say things like you said if I had already turned in my notice".
The Instructor for this session was Rhoda, Manager of Child and Adolescent Psych. She poised the question, "Why are we here?" There was a long pause with no responses. I replied, "Because we have to be." Rhoda chuckled and said, "No- really- why are we here?' Again, another long pause with silence. Again, I said, "Because we have to be." Rhoda frowned, and asked, "Aren't we here for the Patients?" I replied, "Yes- we are here to provide care for the Patients". Rhoda smile until I launched into "while utilizing the most inexpensive resources available with the least amount of staff possible".
I left out the part about profit margins.

New from Wrongway Medical Innovations, inc. (WMI): Are you diabetic? Ever have a hypoglycemic episode or three? Well, in treating your diabetes, forget Novolog & Humalog. WMI introduces a totally new insulin-like-thingy, Yulelog. Yulelog (pronounced 'Yule log' - remember? at Christmas?) is made from highly-refined tree sap, which, when injected, slows down the circulation system. Sugar in your bloodstream will now take a loooooong time to get anywhere in your body. No more hypoglycemia! However, WMI strongly suggests cutting down on sugar once you start on Yulelog, because hyperglycemia can become more likely if you consume much. Ever.
While on a 1:1 last shift at Wrongway Regional Medical Center, I had a COW (Computer On Wheels) on which to chart. The COW allows only for limited internet access. For example, it won't stream music.
However, I found on Wikipedia, that I could separately play each movement of one of my favorite classical works, Bach's Brandenburg Concertos.
