Without boring you with all the details of my particular situation, I'd like to ask a question......
For those of you who have received job offers from hospitals, did the job offer begin as verbal, or did you receive an e-mail or other written offer as the initial offer? I haven't had a drug test or physical yet, so obviously any offer I received right now would be contingent upon those, but just curious how it has progressed for others. In the past, it has worked both ways for me (an initial Paramedic job offer years ago from a local EMS agency came via email).
Thanks for your feedback!

Mine was in person, but I am precepting on the floor, and the manager told me to keep in touch and when I am licensed, she has a job for me.

I would think that if you are dealing with somebody in a face-to-face manner, and initial job offer would usually come as a verbal offer that is later backed up by a written job offer. I would also think that if you are primarily dealing with someone in an off-line or over the phone or some other way that you do not normally deal with that person I face-to-face basis, you would probably get a written/email offer first instead of a verbal offer.
I think it's all really just varies by how each place does their own hiring practices, and possibly even by how each person approaches the situation. One place I worked out way back when extended me a job offer in a verbal manner and another they extended me the job offer in writing so I think it just simply varies by employer and their practices.
I have not been in the job market in a while, so my information could be a little bit outdated. Regardless, I hope something works out real well for you!

A written offer is always more binding than a verbal. The process is determined by that employer's own policy & procedure. They may not allow verbal offers due to problems in the past.

Verbal than written. The verbal was that I have the job. The written stated my hourly rate, and benefits. It also stated the date of hire and that the offer was only contingent I pass drug test and backgrounds.

The last few jobs I've received, I've gotten a phone call from HR offering me the job, and once I've accepted it, the formal offer letter comes that same day via email.
