Would Jesus be employable

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Lets say Jesus Christ was on earth today ,he went to school and became a nurse, and had the same attitude towards life that he ,apparently had 2000 years ago.

Would he be employable? Or would he make such a fuss when he saw the cost cutting at patients expense and the injustice of the health care system and the discrepancy of care bet/ those with money vs those without, that he would simply not be employable.

And for those christian nurses out there who try to follow his example in attitude and practice,Im one of them,do you find yourself making compromises between your efforts to follow Jesus' example in your daily life and the need to survive and be employable?

Well no, not really. Jesus was often teaching large crowds.

Ya know, Sister Mary Rosemary, my teacher at old St. Dominic's could be rolling in her grave right now. "Sacrilege!" I can hear her scream.

Just like when she put me in the corner for using the Lord's name in vain when I said, "Oh my God!" and taped a sign on my back saying "BLASPHEMER". As if a 7 year old is supposed to know what that meant!! :chuckle :lol2:

I don't know about this career change for Jesus. He might have a problem treating the female patients.

Then too we might ask...

"Could he work a 12-hour overnight shift?"

"Would he be able to accurately calculate med dosages and dispense them instead of merely turning an arbitrary quantity of water into wine?"

"He usually interacts in a one-to-one exchange. Can he regularly handle a 1:10 ratio while working?"

Well let's see, didn't he heal some hooker? Or just hang out with her?

He could walk on water, so I guess a 12-hr overnight would be a piece of cake.

As for the drug dosages, what would he care? Whatever he gave 'em he would have big daddy there to either fix it or determine it was their time to go.

and he did have large crowds also...

Wow. Sounds like Sister Mary Rosemary had some issues. I think they have some anti-anxiety drugs for that these days though...

Oooooh! Don't let her hear you say that! She'd smack you on the hands with cross on the giant wood-beaded rosary she wore around her waist! :chuckle

:chuckle And I would smack her in a jail cell for assault and battery. Let her talk to Cookie for a while. That would change her world!:roll

edited to add: Make that assault and battery with a deadly weapon (killed Jesus didn't it?)

Alas, paddling, smacking, and ear pinching was perfectly acceptable in the 70's from your teacher, the principal, the custodian, the priest, the parish, the diocese...

He could make lunch for the whole night shift even though only one of us brought some leftover pizza and half a bag of fritos.

As long as he didn't get all preachy and pulled his wt., I'd work with him.

Jesus would be employable as a nurse in my opinion. He was moved to anger on at least two occasions that I can recall. The first was when the moneychangers were using Lord's house for their profit. Jesus went in and overturned all the tables and kicked some butt. The second time was in the Garden of Gesthemane when John (I believe) cut off the ear of one of the Roman soldiers who had come to arrest Jesus. Jesus scolded the offending disicple and healed the soldier's ear. Jesus also had a very skilled profession and would be highly desirable in today's market for carpenters. Interesting topic....

Don't forget that the MDs would take all of the credit for healing.

I believe Jesus would be an EXCELLENT nurse or any type of leader. Unfortunately, that won't happen (the nurse part) of course since Jesus is in heaven with his father. But, we can difinately look forward to a brighter future for people everywhere with Jesus as a leader in heaven (next to his father)! Imagine, living in a paradiselike conditions without pain suffering and sickness! Most Christian's pray for those conditions each time many of them recite the "lords prayer"..."let YOUR KINGDOM come, let your will take place on EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN" SOUNDS AWESOME TO ME...of course there would not really be a need for nurses! hummmm... well, it would be better than what we got going on now.

Both. ... and He saved one from a stoning.... and according to the Jefferson Airplane they had a son who grew up and got revenge for those those nasty wounds in his hands ... I don't think there is any mention of that outside of the Long John Silver albumn though so lots of people don't know about the family.
