I am happy to report that I have survived my worst semester of Nursing School so far. I cried more in the past week from stress and exhaustion than I have cried in a long time. Then I cried tears of relief when I got my final grade for the semester. Now I'm going to sleep for three weeks before I start my LAST semester of school! Woohoo!!
Again, I never said that I hated nursing school. And I understand real life stress. Working in the OR can be highly stressful. It doesn't mean that I am having a mental breakdown or that I can't cope with stressful situations. It means I thought I was going to fail a class, I was absolutely exhausted, and I had to keep on pushing through anyway. So I cried a few times. I'm sorry some people have a problem with that.
You shouldn't have to defend yourself from these bitter older nurses. You're doing great
Congratulations! I don't think you should be ashamed at all that you endured and successfully overcame a difficult semester. I'm sure many of these nurses shed more than their share of tears on the job on a particular stressful or emotional day. I will also be starting nursing school in the fall and have a support system in place for times like that. You're almost there. Take the time to relax and re-energize. Good luck with your final semester!
Holy moly. Different types of stress. I found nursing school to be more stressful than my first year of nursing because nursing school exams are ridiculous, and the nit-picky stuff were complete ******** that didn't matter in the real world. Group projects to teach teamwork which we all know has none of the dynamic as on-the-job teamwork. Never being able to breathe because you had yet another paper to write or exam to study for or care plan to finish. Clinicals were a joke. It was STRESSFUL!
Why does it seem like lately that multi-decade experienced nurses feel that it is appropriate to be so condescending on this site? The mods have had to step in more than once recently to say "everyone is welcome" which to me is a nice way of saying, "Chill the **** out!"
