Working for Metropolitan Jewish Health System

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hi, Does anyone out there work for metropolitan jewish health system in the capacity of homecare RN. If so, What has your experience been like with this company. I'm looking to make the switch from med-surg to homecare. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I was just hired by Metropolitan as a home care planner and start on the 11th. I had an option between that and home care nurse, so I have the same questions as you. Would be good to hear some feedback from metropolitan employees.

hey guys,

I am a new grad. Do you know if they are hiring new grads at this time? I know they dont for home care. What about nursings homes? Thanks

They will hire new grads if they feel you are a good fit for the position. I'm a new graduate and after searching for almost a year, I went to an open house and was offered the two positions I mentioned in the post above. I had previously applied online and never received a call. I believe they hold open interviews once a week or so. Fill out an online application and go in person on an open interview day. Dress well and be ready to shine. They really respond well to nurses who are passionate about their work and have other skills to offer (I have a background in office management and sales). Speaking a second language is a huge plus. Good luck!

Can you give more info about this place??

MJHS is a healthcare system that offers an array of services in short/long term home care, adult day care, assisted living, palliative care, hospice, etc. Check out their website @ mjhs.com.

@ PE26..hello how are you? I was just wondering what the difference between Home Care Nurse and Home Care Planner is..i am also applying to MJHS and just wanted some info..Thank you very much in advance

Hi LovelRN,

A Home Care Planner usually works in a hospital setting working with pt's who've been recommended for home care by their MD's. We interview the pt and assess them for home care. Based on that assessment, we develop a basic plan of care according to their needs (ex: pt needs RN 2x/week for meds teaching or wound care, PT/OT, home health aide daily, etc...). A Home care RN goes out into the field and visits pt's homes to further assess the pt and their living conditions and delivers the care for the pt (ex: teaching, wound care, IV therapy...). The Home Care RN would also make other recommendations based on his/her assessment (home health aide, safety features for the home, etc.) Good luck!

Specializes in hopefully ICU someday....

i am a new grad and am also curios about working with mjhs. however their site states that

"walk-in interviews[color=#006699] for experienced rns only"

nursing events :: careers with metropolitan jewish health system

pe26: did you go to an open house specifically for new grads? do they have those? or did you ignore their 'warning'?

thanks

Does anyone know the starting salary rate for a homecare nurse at metro jewish?

The open house didn't specify new grad or not...I just showed up! I believe home care RN starts at about 73K or so.
