OMG! I did cried a lot when I found out I failed just seeing that big envelope from my mailbox make me want to melt, this is my first time to take the NCLEX RN exam and I don't know how to start again, should I look for a job not related in my field while reviewing for the exam again or just focus n reviewing? Pls. help, ...
Hi all,
I did some real soul searching recently after studying for and passing the CCRN exam. It was a lot like the NCLEX in that there were questions that came up where you had NO idea where the heck they came up with it. Totally absurd questions that were impossible to answer and were brutal. I left the CCRN exam with my certification, but really upset with the nature of nursing exams. Why are they such crappy, horrible tests that doesn't empower ANYONE? With the NCLEX, there isn't anybody who doesn't consider themselves damn lucky that they passed, because it is really a crap shoot as to how many of those unanswerable questions one gets. Why do nurses do that to each other? It IS nurses designing these tests and running these agencies....
I think these exams should absolutely test one's knowledge and critical thinking skills but what is up with those bizarre questions (obviously designed to trip us up!).
I did some inquiry. Apparently, all licensing exams are like this. Master's level Psychologists need to pass their test at 50% (now that is a VERY hard exam) and the PHD level at 85%. I hear Accountants have it the absolutely worse of anyone, they have 5 separate exams that hardly anyone passes all 5 on the first try.
Does that make it any better? Yes and no. The REAL accomplishment is that you made it through nursing school, with years of exams and clinicals. How many people failed out of your program? Many, I would bet on it. Now it is just this next big hurdle to clear, (it is unfair, stupid, ridiculous, brutal and humiliating...) but it must be done. It WILL never define who are as a human being and the nurse that you will become. Do what you need to do to pass the freakin thing and then forget it. I wish there were a more equitable test for nursing licensure, the test sucks, they all suck... it is the nature of the beast. You however, are awesome and wonderful!! DO NOT allow this one exam define you in ANY way!!
:yeah:
keep on keeping on!!
having a job as a tech in the hospital isn't that bad. but i only work 24 hrs/week,evenings. so that way i have time to study. i have never had a job in the healthcare field before. i'm glad i have it now! i'm gaining confidence. i also know that this hospital will hire me as a nurse as soon as i get my license. so, i think i'm going in the right direction. now i only need God's blessing.
jess2007,
it's great to hear that being a tech isn't bad at all. i'm an international graduate & this is gonna be my first job. i still want to try the nurse tech position, but i'm still afraid to do so. i hope i could gain the confidence you have. what do you usually do as a nurse tech? thanks a lo! God bless to you!

shiina,
you are not to far from me. the bon is gonna send you a packet w/ your performance sheets in it and a little thin blue and white nclex book ( u prob have it already). you will have to re-register w/ the bon meaning you have to pay (i had to pay $105). according to the fla bon, you are not to re-pay pearson until you rcv your eligibility from them (the bon). i also verified w/ pearson. after you get your eligibility, you send pearson another $200 for your retake. they will send you your att at that time. its been almost 3 weeks since i re-registered w/ fla bon and have yet to hear anything. once i get it, ill send the 200 dollars to pearson. either way it goes, i am still studying until then. you are 30 minutes away from me so i am sure its the same process. as far as re-take in fla, you have to wait 45 days from your original test date to even resched w/ pearson but u can re-register and pay the 105 dollars w/bon anytime. all this info will be included in your packet. i got it in about 1 week after i tested. in the event one does not pass on the 2nd attempt, you have to wait 90 days to retake. after that, you have to test in another state. just start your studying w/ the saunders book and dont stress or frustrate yourself w/ all that other stuff, we need to pass the 2nd time and we will. fla bon is gonna take there time, i am expecting to get my att at least by nov. hope this has helped you.
