I thought you just passed your boards? Why do you need to renew? The BON would have the best answer for this.....you might be put on hold a long time...but I would wait on the line if you need an answer.

Moved to Nurse registration for best response

I believe the BON will let you sit for the exam but requires a SSN for first licensure renewal and maybe licensure at all. Check out this site for state requirements. This site might not be completely current which is why you must contact the BON

What work permit? H1b has gone for this year and costs a lot more than $150. Only exemption with H1b is that the facility isn't capped which would be establishments like universities

Hello everyone! I passed my US licensure exam last August 2012, I am still here in the Philippines and will not be able to renew my license next year because they require SSN upon renewal.

I think I will not be in the US in 5years time due to retgrogression. I am concerned because the lady from IDFPR told me that if I am not physically practicing my nurse license in the US for more than 5 years,, I have to re-take my licensure exam even if I am an active nurse in the Philippines. :nailbiting:Can somebody please clarify this to me? What do I have to do in order for me not to retake my NCLEX exam?

SSN = Social Security Number. SSN is only issued to United States citizens and legal immigrants. If you are not a US citizen or legal immigrant or on a valid work visa you WILL NOT get an SSN. The SSN is our "number". Again it is only issued to Americans, legal immigrants and those with work visas. If you are a citizen of the Philippines or any other country, you will not get one ever. So be wary of those who promise help for a fee.

Can somebody please answer me? :nailbiting:What do I have to do in order for me not to retake my NCLEX exam? I called again to IDFPR and they said the same thing, that I might have to re-take the exam again if my license is on inactive for more than 5 years:cry:

Are you working as a nurse? if the state requires you to resit the exam then that is a decision they can and have made

Hi Silverdragon thank you for replying! Yes I am working as a nurse now.

I thought the NCLEX exam result doesn't

expire? Can I like freeze my NCLEX exam result so I wont have to retake it?

If you are working as a nurse then you may find the state accepts this and not require you to resit the exam as a lot of states require you to maintain nursing to maintain experience to maintain license
