Why are so many people today shunning real medicine, vaccines etc for hoaxes and gimmicks like essential oils, weight loss powders, etc? Any ideas why so many are turning away from actual medicine?

I have an ASN and make around $100,000.00 in my specialty. I also have two other bachelor's degrees (I like collecting them) and am currently working on a Master's in history of religion. As a side line I study the power of food as medicine and grow a large organic garden. I have burned sage in the home of a sick relative who said she felt better immediately. Turns out the chemicals in sage smoke kill germs (Who would of guessed that)

Not to mention the crews out in the rainforest looking into tribal medicine and plants in a search for new drugs that may cure cancer and the like.?

I know some chemicals work. Of course listerine kills germs. I’m talking about how idiots think oils cure cancer, or other real diseases. If wintergreen mint makes you breathe better or something I get it. I’m talking about the hocus pokus stuff.

well if you read my post you will see that some plant oils are effective in treating cancer and In a you can stop bleeding with either ground mustard or black pepper both of which have powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. They also act as a natural anticoagulant.

If you are going into nursing, medicine or just be around people you should probably figure out that they don't really like being called idiots.

You still have not brought up a single study to support you original thesis.

There are some people who will have access to modern medicine and get themselves killed because they believe they can cure themselves. Even placebo is shown to be slightly effective demonstrating the power of the mind. It is important for people to seek the proper treatment in regard to serious disease, however, and not rely on folk cures in those situations. That being said, for minor cuts and scrapes, folk medicine is adequate.
