Winter read? You got it.

Few weeks ago, I came across this book while searching for a simple survival guide through nursing school & found "Confessions of a Student Nurse: How I survived My First Years exams..." by Marie Flynn. I think its a great book for us Pre-Nursing students to get a feel for NS & what to expect etc. This is more like a diary of what the author went through. So if diaries aren't your kind of thing, thats okay but just give it a chance & check it out! It is also HILARIOUS, seriously filled w/ humor. Its literally $1 (kindle version) on amazon, a great, quick read, and I would definitely recommend it!

Here's the link!

Confessions of a Student Nurse: How I Survived My First Year Exams, Clinicals, Cadaver Lab, Learning To Give Shots and Nursing Instructors Who Eat Their Own Young (Sugar Girls Book 1) - Kindle edition by Marie Flynn. Professional & Technical Kindle eB

Specializes in Pediatrics/Developmental Pediatrics/Research/psych.

That sounds like a great pre nursing read. However, it is important to remember that every school, every professor, every class and every student is different. Keep an open mind and open heart.

You can do this!

By the way, keeping a journal/diary is a great idea for nursing students. It is a great tool for seeing your growth as a professional and in healthcare. And who knows, maybe one day you'll publish yours as a book...

Thank you! I'm downloading it tonight. I'm currently reading this...

I Wasn't Strong Like This When I Started Out: True Stories of Becoming a Nurse:Amazon:Books

I'm halfway through and it's been an inspiring read so far. I like these sorts of books in between semesters. It keeps me motivated. :)

wow! I've never heard of this book, but I will look into it. It looks interesting too!! Thanks

I think it is cool to read things like that. However, on another site, there is an article that says to write a letter to yourself, no matter where you are in the program. Talk about your wishes, hopes and dreams for your career, your feelings at the time. Seal that letter and open it on graduation day, it will make that day even much more special. I like that idea.

I downloaded both of them and two more. They so far are awesome. These are great while I impatiently, maniacally, butterflies in my stomach wait to see if I got accepted into the nursing program for the fall.
