Hi sir/madam! I shifted into nursing because i just realized this is the best ticket to reach my American dream. I wanted to know if there is a projection if nurses needed on year 2020 because i will be graduating on 2019. Also, they say at present time, USA aren't hiring much nurses. Is it true? Please share your insights thank you.
Ok guys. We know some areas jobs are hard to come by and that is regardless on whether local or international. Things can happen but be realistic and keep up to date with what is happening on the immigration front.
It may take years but as long as you factor that into the equation anything can happen
I am an IEN, a Filipino. I graduated 2007, work for 3 years in the Philippines and the past 3 and a half years in Middle East. I'm on my way to work in a Houston Hospital next month. Prior to this, I've been interviewed by 4 US hospitals, 2 in Texas, 1 in Louisiana and 1 in Arizona. Per experience, it was not hard to find a job in the US as long as qualifications are met such as immigration, education, licenses, english proficiency, health and most of all acute care experience. On the other hand, I've also known a number of IENs who are still struggling to find a placement in the US. In my case, however, I've waited for 7 years to reach this stage.

Exactly my point. Obviously there are immigration obstacles, especially with the recent retrogression. Yet I find no fault in being "prepared"
So if want this Ms. Weird Gal, go get it.
I think it's hard for new grads to find jobs in the metropolitan areas on the East and West coasts because everybody wants to live in those places. There are still nursing jobs to be had. if one is willing to look in the middle US and rural areas. Yes you might have to move to find your job and you have to make finding a job in itself.
Hppygr8ful
We don't need any more foreign nurses to come over and take American jobs.US citizens are already looking for work and don't want the competition.
I dont believe this is the case. Before a job can go to an IEN the employer must prove that he tried to fill it with american nurse first for at least 30 days! And that vacancy has to remain open whilst also seeking an IEN . The employer has to show how he advertised that he did weekend advertisement , all the applications if any he received and if any why they were unsuitable.
I think the issue is that in some parts of america there may be a saturation however in other places its a drought
I cannot speak fully for the entire United States but where I live there is a shortage of nurses. They have made it easier to get into the nursing program so that they can fill the shortage.
Since you say there is hope of job in ur place.. which state u r in? and u work in city or outskirt areas??
You just handed her a one-sided opinion, without even considering the potential circumstance that a LOT of us experienced recently. It is NEVER HELPFUL if you merely put weight one side of the story. So how would you explain my/our experience? I was discouraged by the similar people like you, but I am an RN in the US right now. How'd that happen? And take note, the process wasn't that hard acquiring this job. I survived a series of interviews without difficulties and was hired eagerly by my employer. Clearly, I/we wer/was qualfied for the job. Because we had the credentials and abilities to back up what we offer. I have no idea why your employers give your locally educated RNs a hard time looking for work, as you boldly claim. You can present facts and even back it up with your so-called "truths" But you can't just rule out the possibilities of circumstances.
He did not. He answered a question of the title to this thread, which was backed up by someone providing a reference.
A new grad will have a hard time getting job, unless they know someone in the mafia. Maybe 7 years ago as a new grad WITHOUT EXPERIENCE it was easy.
Reality is the days over importing to same degree it has been in the past from the Philippines is over.
