Why is this question always asked?

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I genuinely would like to know, since I see it CONSTANTLY. And the question strikes me as odd.

"What did you use to study?" when responding to "I PASSED!!" posts.

They always use the same study tools, so....why the question?

People pass with Saunders, and Kaplan, and Lippincott's, and NCLEX 3500. They pass with Hurst, and LaCharity, and on and on. They also fail with Saunders, and Kaplan and....you get the idea. One person passes...YAY! Great book!! Another fails....argh, horrible book.

Every new grad who is preparing for the NCLEX has the identical list of study/review programs available.

So what is it you are hoping to learn, when you ask "what did you use to study"?

I'd think a FAR MORE valuable way to assess if an NCLEX prep system is good for YOU is by simply taking a look at each of these programs' outline online. That would tell you whether it's set up like you would like....or not.

It is all about doing questions and reviewing rationales of wrong answers regardless of book used, THAT'S IT! There is no magic formula to passing this exam!

Hm I thought the purpose of this thread is to help and give advices to our future nurses. What's wrong with them asking the same questions? Not everyone read the posts that is posted up. This tread will probably died out without them asking questions. We're here to help not to complain. If you don't like it then don't answer it.

Definitly agree with your post.

As a new student, those questions are rather helpful to me. I already know to start studying for NCLEX from day one. And you never know, some new study material might turn up. It also gives the person a chance to shine for a moment in all their glory, while they get a chance to tell how they did it.

If I understand what you're getting at, you think by posting "why do you ask this?" is tantamount to ignoring requests for help? If so, you haven't done much reading here. WE ARE here to help. It isn't a complaint. It's to point out that it IS NOT HELPFUL for people to follow this line of questioning, it DOES NOT help them to pass the exam.

So....I guess if you don't like or understand the questions *I* pose, please don't feel the need to answer them, either

Definitly agree with your post.

Whose? (and wondering how can someone agree with your post if we've no idea to WHICH post it's agreeing...?). If you use the "Quote" feature correctly, you'll be better understood.

I agree. Everyone is different. What helped some pass may lead some to fail. NCLEX was so random that it's hard to give advice really. I am all for helping people with what resources worked for me to study though. Giving people "just relax" advice. ;) I actually posted a "I passed" post cause I was so dang excited! Haha. Had a user on here email me and ask to use my Kaplan and pay me! I was shocked. That's illegal? Sorry, I am not one to make money transactions online from a nursing forum and one that I'm thinking is illegal anyway.

There, there, no need to get all offensive. I'm just suggesting that you shouldn't keep asking why, why, why. Many of these newly members are concern about their up coming exam. You should understand since you been in their shoe once. They're seeking for help and advice. They have no time or any patient searching and reading all these posts, so by making it easier they create their own post. You posting this makes it uncomfortable for our newly members.

And no no my second post was not meant for you:)

I felt that NCLEX was very vast and random also. When people ask me for my advice it's hard to give any, I took the exam last week and I'm still sorting my feelings out around it lol

People come to the NCLEX discussion forum to ask questions and receive advice about the test. They are not here to annoy you or anyone else. There are thousands of posts to sift through in order to find answers to some of the questions people have so it's easier to make a new post. If it bothers you so much all you have to do is simply not read them. I just hope your post doesn't scare anyone away from seeking advice or reassurance. We are here to support one another not to make posts like this one. Seems like a pointless post to me....

I agree. Why complain about questions asked? No one is forcing you to read them. New grads are nervous and asking what helped, that is a fair enough question. It is called the NCLEX discussion forum for a reason :)

I never posted a question like "what did you do to pass?" However, I did read some..and the ones posted did in fact help me decide on which NCLEX prep to do by people who said how they like to study, the type of student they were, and what they did to pass. So just to be clear, those posts did help at least one person...me!
