I guess, I just don't get it. Why hospitals wouldn't accept new grads? If there a nursing shortage and they are looking for experienced nurses why not to train a new grad? Is it laziness? Is it not wanting to accept responsibility? Is it we don't care attitude? How a new grad can get this experience if denied to apply in every hospital because there are no openings for new grads? OK. I don't care if I'm in medsurg or in ER, or maternity anymore. I just want to get a job. Nursing homes tell me they need LVNs, not RNs, outpatient wouldn't take me either. I have searched numerous websites and still nothing. I thought as soon as I graduate I'd be able to get a job. So far I haven't left my home for a week and just stay on line and look for a job. Nothing! I cry, I pray, but no one can hear. I just want to be a nurse!

There are lots of hospitals that hire new grads. Have you considered relocating?

Dear,I don't think it's the fact that you're a new grad,in this economy many nurse's, new grads, experienced nurses are having a hard time getting hired. I'm sorry you're having such a hard time and I doubt if it's any consolation that many others are having the same problem. Keep at it,try not to let your attitude suffer,if I were you,I would try to volunteer at the hospital that interests you,you will get some experience and the hospital will already have a good idea of what a helpful, motivated and knowledgeable person you are when they start hiring and you'll be able to get in easier. :redpinkhe
Yes,relocating after you get a job there would be a good idea. I guess some places are hiring,I just know that Florida is dead right now, every place around here is either laying off or in a hiring freeze.
Good luck!
yes. Where?
For starters,
Up at the very top right corner of this page is a link that says "Jobs". When you get to the "jobs" page, use "new grad" as your search terms.
tried it. no reply.
Have you never hunted for a job before?

the trouble with new grads is they are $$. you have to pay someone to train them, and especially if you are doing it right, you've got 6 weeks or so of paying a nurse that is not yet independent. it's often less risky to hire an experienced nurse.
good luck with the hunt...i wish i had better advice; I'm glad I graduated into the job market that I did
Yes. But I have never known that I would have to hunt for nursing job
Well then, since you know how to hunt for a job, you just have to apply the same strategies for finding a job in nursing. Best of luck to you!
Thanks. It is not that I know everything. It just I have tried to do whatever I've been told. I'm on my own, with no one to support me. I'm tired, depressed and frustrated and do not know what to do.

I am in the same boat here in Central Wisconsin. Nobody is hiring new grads (some were hired if they were working as CNAs prior). Moving is not an option for me right now. I am afraid that it will be months before places are hiring, and then they'll hire the next set of new grads because my skills will be "rusty".
