U.S.A. Alabama

OK....the wait is killing me:uhoh3: So I thought I would start a thread to see just how many people are waiting like me. If you have heard anything like when we might hear something let us know.

Thank goodness I have all my other classes done. Just the nursing classes left. I knew before I applied I wanted to get everything else out of the way because I hear even part time is demanding and I have a 6 year old and 9 year old at home.

I have the same questions. I can't wait until Thursday. There are so many plans to make.

KLB1230 have you taken all your general education courses? I still have PSY 200 and HUM. I'll have to work these classes in sometime in the future.

Take Psy online. My friend took both PSy's online and made A's. She said it was super easy that way! She took her last one this summer while she started her first semester of nursing :)

Where should I begin? Oh MONEY.

1. We have two children, 11 and 9 years old with another baby due in early January. 2. Mortgage

3. Car note

4. Health insurance

And the list can go on and on. As I said in an earlier post I did apply to both full time and part time to increase my chances on getting accepted. But, if I had gotten into the full time program we would have to make may life altering changes. We were willing to make these changes but only if we had to. My wife is very supportive as I make this change in professions.

I understand! I have 3 kids myself...9, 7 and 4. Actually why I decided to go Full time. I need to graduate soon :) I know a guy that has a newborn and works plus he's doing Full time Nursing ( actually in his 3rd semester ) and he's doing great. Able to handle work and school. Best of Luck to you and Congrats on the new baby!

I've got a question for you..........do you know what the schedule is for the first semester of part-time? I'm confused a bit on what the schedule says.........T, W, TH nights.....but some nights say web-supported...do we go to school those nights too? Three nights or two nights? I've got kids too and just trying to plan. I guess I'll find out Thursday if you don't know either.

I asked my friend the same question because it shows WEB classes in Full time too. She told me that Yes you will go to class on those days/times but may not stay the whol;e time. She also told me that nothing is ever set in stone and that I needed to be flexible...:uhoh3: Thats not easy with 3 kids. But She's managed to do it with twins this summer. She took 3 nursing classes and PSY online and is doing well.

Best Wishes to you......

I know you all posted these thread responses almost a year ago....But if your're still around I would like to talk to those of you who got in the Part Time Jeff State program last year (2007).

What was the points cut off?

how many did they accept?

I am assuming you started in fall 2007, which means you've been in it aprox 9 months now. How many are still in your class?

What is the student make-up like: young--college first timers, older professionals changing careers etc???

Million dollar question...how is it? Is it as chaotic and highly dysfunctional as the rumors have us think?

I would love if someone would email me to talk

[email protected]

I just applied to the part-time program for fall 2008. have not heard yet...apps were due May 12th. I'm in my 30's and this is a career change for me.

one more thing, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ADVISE!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you stressing out already? How many pts do you have? I hope to get in this fall also for the part-time program. I'm guessing we won't find out about acceptance until around the end of June or early July. I heard it takes four to six weeks to find out. Do you have your pre-reqs completed?

yes, I am stressed about it all! I want in BAD because it's kind of do it now or never for me. I am also stressed because I do not have a plan b if I do not get into the part-time night program. I CANNOT quit work, it is absolutely not a option finance wise! Not to mention I do not qualify for any federal financial aid, ie even loans, at Jeff State because I already have a bachelors degree...yea, just found that one out. The government will not lend money for anyone with a 4 year degree to get a associates degree...only a masters or doctorate.

Yes, I have all the pre-reqs, psychs etc. All I need is the nursing classes and clinicals!

now that I just blabbed, How about you??

I too would love to know the answers to these questions. I am hoping to get into the pt program & initially felt pretty good about it but not I'm not so sure. The 2 weeks since the deadline feels like 4-5 weeks & we might not know anything for another 4!:banghead:

Any info from those who have gotten into the pt program would be great!!!!

i started in the part-time program in the fall of 07. i just started my 3rd semester. we started with about 40 students. we are down to about 1/2 that this semester, but gained about 5 new ones that had not passed 105 previously and are having to retake it. when we started, we had students that were in their 20's, 30's, and even a 50 year old.

it's not easy at all. even though we're "part-time" everyone works full time and comes to class directly from work. we have class until 9-9:30p. we

haven't had a lot of luck with "good" teachers until this semester, so it's been very rough for us.

classes were at the main campus the first 2 semesters, but this semester we're at shelby. they don't know where we'll be until each semester gets a lot closer.

it has been chaotic and dysfunctional, but a lot of us feel that this semester might be the turn around. we'll just have to wait and see.

fyi, we didn't get our acceptance letters until about 2 weeks before classes actually started.

if you have any questions, let me know. :)

Wow, their website says most classes are taught at SVH or Shelby. If most are actually at Jefferson that's going to be hard for me since I'll be coming from Tuscaloosa. Hmmm.......
