We've had several threads from everyone saying they were accepted to various schools, but if everyone is willing let's do one big thread for everyone that will be starting anesthesia school this summer or fall. If you don't mind please include where you applied, the status from each school ( meaning didn't get an interview, interviewed and not accepted/made alternate/accepted), and the school you chose and why. Thanks, so much!
I applied to :
1) Medical College of Georgia- interviewed and made alternate
2) Samford (in Birmingham)- interviewed and accepted
3) University of Alabama at Birmingham- interviewed and accepted and will be going there this fall. I chose UAB because I loved the Director and all of their clinicals are in Birmingham, so I won't have to travel all over the state.
Applied to Northeastern University/University of New England/St. Josephs College.
Granted interviews to all three.
Interviewed at Northeastern and Accepted.
Cancelled all the rest of my interviews.
Gpa 3.31

I was a staff educator in my unit as well.
New to the forums. Its nice to see how everyone else is doing. Its encouraging to see people getting into the programs. Helps to keep one motivated.
I'm applying to Univ. of Iowa, Mayo, Baylor, and Franciscan Skemp for 2010 admission. I've been in the ICU for 7 months now and I have already finished my orientation and am a part of the Heart Team. Have always been in critical care areas for my 7 1/2 years of nursing ranging from ER to Neuro interventional radiology.
GPA 3.54
GRE 1190 470 vocab. 720 math and 4.5 essay.
Enrolled in my BSN will be finished April 2010
ENPC, TNCC, PALS, ACLS and I am scheduled to take the CCRN in July.
Wish me luck.
Dear fellow nurses,
Since most of you have been accepted i would beeeeyond appreciate some advice..
I am strongly interested in applying to CRNA schools in the next 2-3 years. My GPA= 3.3/ 3.6 (Nursing). I plan on taking Orgo Chem and Physics at Columbia as a post-bac starting in the Spring to boost my science GPA and because they are required. I have a little over 1 year of SICU experience....than I decided to move at the spur of the moment and could not find an ICU job right away so I took a Surgical Step-down at one of the top hospitals in the city. Is this going to ruin my chances? Should I find a per-diem ICU job at the same time? I plan on taking th CCRN as well since I have enough hours. I will shadow a CRNA too. Whats a good GRE score? What else can I do in the next few years to increase my chances. I was thinking about volunteering as an EMT for community service and some field work ? I would like to get in to a program while I'm still "young" and can freely move to different areas for school. Your help is greatly appreciated !!
I got accepted to Case the next week after my interview and canceled my Akron interview.
My stats that got me in:
3.45 BSN
2.95 undergrad
8 years as nurse 4.5 years CTICU, MICU, SICU, level 1 Trauma, transplant- with last 3 years traveling at top hospitals in the US
volunteer work at Free Clinic and surgical missions abroad
CCRN
GRE 1140
They said they were impressed by my resume so I guess thats what got me in.
Good luck everyone!!
So discouraged, 15 years experience, last seven in SICU.
CCRN, ACLS, PALS, TNCC.
Have retaken undergraduate sciences to become current, have taken grad. statistics and am currently taking grad. research.
Undergrad GPA (fifteen years ago) 2.5, Current GPA 3.6
GRE 890, analytical writing 3.5
Interviewed at 1 out of 3 schools, not accepted
Shadowed at 6 different facilities, attended senior seminar, etc.
Humbled and frustrated, advice? Will persistance pay off in my case or is NP a better route to take? Advice?
