Happy Halloween! Time for all the ghosts and goblins (of all sizes and ages) to show up at your door expecting a chocolate treat. Every year I am surprised by the number of older trick-or-treaters who come to my door. There are even parents carrying babies expecting treats for the baby. Hmmmmm.....

Every year, I still get at least one child dressed as a nurse. YAY!! We still make the cut, even if some of the teens have a scarier version from a horror movie.

Nurse in horror movies.....

Over the years, Hollywood has decided to put these "angels in white" in a different light and showcase them as murderers, psychopaths, etc. Who are some of the most memorable evil nurses in cinematic history? Let's see how long of a list we can come up with.

Specializes in ACNP-BC, Adult Critical Care, Cardiology.

Ummm, Annie Wilkes in Misery (played by Kathy Bates).

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Nurse Diesel from Mel Brooks' "High Anxiety." ? Growing up my sister and I would always say "Those who are tardy don't get fruit cup" in our best Nurse Diesel voices. Okay, she was more odd than scary. Lol

Yes, you really do need to see it.

Really good film and when I was a student one of the lecturers used it to demonstrate institutionalised behaviour by staff and patients.

Beg, borrow or steal a copy, (OK don't steal) but get a hold of it. You won't be disappointed and you will discover why Nurse Ratched is such a hated character. ?

Specializes in NICU.

cant remember the name but she tied up patients to OR bed and proceeded to do horrible surgery to them.A more recent modern entry in nurse horror.
