6,200.00 Who are they kidding? For a CNA 5 month course..

HOLY!! I just spoke to someone from the "Academy for Practical Nursing" here in West Palm Beach, FL since they are near my home. I asked them about the CNA program b/c I'd like to have something under my belt before I try for the LPN at a Community College, she says to me that the course is involved with Patient Care Assisting. 5 months around 6500.00.

Were a university told me that you really dont need much schooling to begin as a CNA. ummm...maybe I should just try to go for the LPN, I hear it is hard to get in at Palm Beach Community College! UGH!:banghead: Is anyone going to this college that can tell me otherwise? Thanks

those "private academy" programs will screw you over bigtime!

i paid 86$ at a community college for my cna, then 96 for my state test.

yes, there is a wait for nursing school, but it is worth it. my entire rn program is only 6500!!!!

I did my CNA training at my work for free. I know of two nursing homes that have the CNA courses in my small town. So maybe you could check into that? You do not have to be employed there to start, you just stay there when your done and the class is only 2 weeks and you get paid for the whole thing. The only thing is somtimes it takes a while for state to come to test you.

Long term care facilities offer this course for free. One of the best places to get this course is through the Adult Branch of your local education department. I got my CNA course there and paid about $48. Another excellent choice for a school for CNA is to get it at a community college. Or you can see if your local Red Cross offers the course. Definitely you can do better than pay $6200 for something that can be accomplished in as little as 4 weeks!

Ever since the government started paying tuition's in certain states programs like CNA, EMT and Paramedic have gone through the roof! Many nursing centers and hospitals have CNA or Medical Assistant programs in place to give you the training while you work. THEY PAY YOU. $6,500.... hell, you shouldn't pay $500.00. I'd rather get paid than spend money.

I hope you can find something similar.

Call some nursing agencies and ask if they can provide training.

I got my CNA training from the owner of a nursing agency, we did our clinicals at a local nursing home and we all did well on our certification exam.

They offer the course through most community colleges for a few hundred dollars plus the cost of books, etc. Private schools can and do charge what they want. This cost is insanity.

Than you so much for all the replies! It is much apperciated!! I will check in on Nursing homes and see if they offer this program. If I can remember- the website for PBCC stated that if I choose to go to LPN program I must take CNA first- I will deff. check out all the advice from you guys! Thanks so much!

That's more than my LPN course! Here in NJ the community college offers CNA for $800 and Multi skilled tech for 1500. Home health classes are usually free if you are interested and ask around nursing homes or hospitals for free or low cost options.

I paid a few hundred at the Red Cross and you get that reimbursed if you work in a Medicare funded facility for 90 days.

I think I paid around $2,500 total for my ADN (RN) degree.
