Who else is starting clinicals in the winter?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Since there is a thread going for fall starters, I thought we could start one for the winter starters. Are there any out there.

I will be starting in January 06

I will be starting my clinicals in Jan. Originally my letter told me I would start the program in Jan. but I was able to register for two nursing classes this August. I still have some prerequisite courses to complete. I had considered putting off going in the fall and go in the winter, so I could finish the prerequisite classes but we don't have a summer semester and I would like to apply for a nurse tech position after the first semester of clinicals which would be the summer.

Same here, I still need to take 2 pre-reqs but will have them done by the end of the year (Dec.) If all goes well of course and with the good Lord's help :)

I am soooo excited. You guys are soooo lucky to have your orientation so soon. My orientation wont be until the first week of

January. I think we start January 13th or something. Im starting at Barry

university in Miami, FL. I hope they would just send me a list sooner on the supplies that I need to get. Im in the process of buying a PDA right now. Ill probably wait until school starts in mid-august because that is when "Dell" will have their back to school sale. I wish I would know which books to get too. I have to take some other classes in the fall too but nothing science related. I finished all those in May. In the falls I'll be taking Bio-medical Ethics(some kind of philosophy), theology(my school is private catholic), and another art/humanities. They have to be upper division classes in the 300 level. oh well. Good luck to all of us!!! I thought i was the only one starting in January too. Good to know i am not alone.

I have all my pre-reqs complete (3.77 GPA) (B in Algebra 4 years ago, but I don't plan on retaking it) LOL

I am taking my last non-nursing course (A&P 2). So, hopefully having everything complete will increase my chances of getting right in!

So, when I start, I'll just have the nursing courses, and clinicals!

Hi fun2care,

Me too I input the application, but they pretty much tell you if you are in or not at my school. They said that there is a 99.9% chance unless everyone else does better. I refuse to think otherwise, and will remain confident :p

Let us know when you get the letter!! I am rooting for you! Much luck! :balloons:

Thank you kindly! The deadline is Sept 12th, and we should recieve the call or letter by mid Oct or early November. The students who have taken all or most of their credits are considered first along with the other factors. (reason being is that it is an expensive private college) and most people take the reqs at the cc and then try to get in.

Congratulations on your winter start

I have some classes that will put me in the hospitals/clinics in the fall, but my "real" clinicals start in the winter. I have 3, but one won't take place until May, and that will be done in Chile.

Awsome! Are you in Chile now? :)

Hello all winter starters!!!Thank you sooo much for starting this thread. I tried starting one but it didnt last. Lets keep this one running.

No, the class will be in Chile. While it is offered during the regular semester, they also offer it in May -- working in an underserved area -- tho I'm sure they could have found one here in the USA...

The school "discourages" more than 2 clinicals at a time, but I'm out of classes. This is my work-around...and let's me do something that I am interested in doing.
