ME!!!!!!but i've got a ways to go...
hmph.
Just wanted to say that I agree with rockstarrn!! I am going into my second semester of NS (BSN program) soon. The prereqs were a pain in the behind, but are totally necessary to understand the material in NS. Don't rush through them, learn the material and do well......and you'll be great! It's true what all my professors said...you can't just memorize the info and then dump it, because it WILL come back to haunt you
Best of luck guys! You'll be starting before you know it!!
I actually have a question about pre-req's...oh, who am I kidding, I have a ton.
I currently live in Washington D.C. but am applying to schools in Florida so I can live with my family there and not have to worry about working (I'm going for second degree BSN).
I have to take my pre-req's ASAP, all of em'. AP 1, 2, micro, chem, and nutrition.
It's kind of tricky though because there aren't any community colleges in the district so I'm looking at Montgomery Community College in Takoma Park, MD. as my most realistic option. Has anyone taken them there? I'm concerned about tuition costs if I'm technically not a resident. Just wondering if anyone has been in my predicament.
Also, I will have to take them over the course of two semesters and was wondering if anyone has an opinion on which ones to take together (if available). You know, if any two really complement each other or which ones to try to avoid taking together.
Thanks a lot and best of luck to all of you.
I'm definitely anxious to start nursing school but for my school you don't have to have your pre-reqs done before you apply, they're included in the sequence. I have most of them done anyway (the general ed ones) because of the fact that I was a diff. major but in the Spring I will be taking A&P 1, CPR, and Developmental Psych. Then in the summer I will be taking 2 intro to nursing classes and A&P 2. So once I actually START in the fall, all I will need to do is completely Microbiology.
My school (I'm getting an ADN) doesn't require us to take Chemistry or Nutrition. I'm going to take Nutrition there because I know it's required in other schools. And if I will have to take chemistry to get my BSN I will also take it at my school .. as long as it's transferrable. =]
Seems like we're all well on our way to nursing school .. almost ready!

I'm also currently working on my prereqs- have chem and nutrition done, will be done with micro next week, and will be taking A&P I and II next semester. My only advice would be to pair nutrition with the class you think will be hardest for you, because (at least at my school) it's the only one that does not have a lab component and therefore you spend a lot less time in class AND you also don't have to write lab reports outside of class. Also it's basically straight memorization, so I found it much easier than the other two I've taken so far. Good luck!!!
P.S. MEEEEEEE! Finishing up prereqs next spring and summer and applying for Spring 2010!
