I signed up with the College Network one week ago for the Excelsior LPN-RN program.
I was wondering if anyone has completed this program.
I am now worried because I just read many complaints against them online. I already knew that they are not affiliated with Excelsior college n that the school has own fees when I finally apply to them.

Well, if you knew what you were getting into, then you should have no complaints. Hope you complete the program.
No, I didnt, but to my understandng, they prepare students to test out of general education courses in my case 2
Once those courses are complete, students can enroll at Excelsior which will require thier own fees for an application, 2day clinicals n graduation .
caliotter3, with all due respect my question asked for advise frm those who want to help not mockery. i hope you dnt treat your patients this way! its not therapeutic ;~)

Hi, Newlpn, I'm slowly slogging my way thru LPN-RN using TCN. And while i was aware before I started that I could probably do the program without a service like TCN or Rue, I signed up specifically because now that I've spent the money, I feel more motivated to finish - sad that my brain works that way, but sometime I get lazy - this keeps me moving along.
Hope that you are either in your window to get out of the contract (if that is what you decide to do), or that you make the best of what you signed up for. I cannot say that I regret it, but I'm only working on my prerequesites, and those were the real stumbling block for me as far as working on my RN - I just wasn't able to work full time and have a life while in a classroom - lazy, like I said!
Best of luck to you,
e

Hello,I used TCN study materials I didn't have have any problems, passed every test the first time.I finished EC and passed NCLEX first time. You will find people on here that don't like TCN ,because you can buy thier stuff on Ebay, but you do what works for you and don't worry about what anyone else says.Leo2:)
If you want to take two simple sentences and deem them mockery then go ahead. But you say you knew what you were doing, so why bother to post? Do you think that people are going to come on this board to debate your decision with you? I did not mock you. I stated the obvious. And I wished you success. I think the mockery is in the wrong ball park. Carry on with your TCN payments and enjoy your purchase.
Thank you guys, I am glad that I did TCN and that they are not a scam. because I need alot of structure and after going thru EC website it seemed like alot of texts to purchase for each exam on my own. and like catlvr if I pay then I can also stay motivated so that my money does not go to waste. Thankfully I ddnt need to purchase many of those modules I had no idea that i was able to buy on ebay. so RN here I go.

I just signed up for the LPN to RN through excelsior college and started module 1 on monday. I was kind of skeptical. So how do you like it so far. I really don't know of too many people that are doing it that's why I came to this site to see what I can find out. I live in Wisconsin and I just graduated from the LPN program in May. I took my boards in July. I just started working at the nursing home a few weeks ago. Any tips for the online thing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I just had a sit down with a salesman from The College Network this week in my home.
The fees are outrageous, in my opinion. You are paying almost $500 per module, no matter what the class is - plus the cost of each test. In study modules alone, I was quoted over $7 grand to complete my pre-reqs and Excelsiors nursing tests. The $16k I was quoted for the entire "program" did not even include Excelsiors CPNE or tuition, which is another $3K+.
Your payments are only going towards the cost of the modules, and tests if you include them.
What got me, really, was the used-car sales techniques the salesman used trying to get me sign on the dotted line. He said there was a $2K grant to be discounted from the total price, but that "it was going to expire the next evening at midnight, and then the costs would go up another two grand." That, in my opinion, shot him and The College Network in the foot, and I saw immediately that it was a scam.
Can you get your RN using The College Network? Sure. But why pay them an extra ten thousand dollars to do the legwork for you?
I would pay a reasonable fee to have someone arrange for me to clep out of classes, etc., but not that much.

i have nothing good to say about this so called college.
my personal opinion is to stay away and sign nothing because once you sign you are in debt and they do not care one ounce about your reason for dropping. you are on the hook for the entire amount of the entire course no matter how much of it you use. i think of it as if i were to be accepted to a state university, and had to drop the state would not charge for classes not taken, only those you completed. not true with this company.
the first course i received was anatomy and had the word "sample" superimposed over the top of every page that appeared to be copied on a poor copy machine. the quality of the material was very poor, blurry and not professional looking. i was accepted to another program and i went with them instead and i am much happier. i am actually learning and not just patted on the back by the so called counselors that i called for help.
becoming an rn is expensive enough without making the mistake of signing with this company. learn from others mistakes and do not get suckered into their program.
this is one man who has learned his lesson, (a very expensive lesson).
if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is so stay away from it.

I am using TCN modules and I like them very much. I have taken 4 tests and passed them on the first try. They condense all the material in ECs books into one module, making it more organized and easier to pack wherever you go. I only have 3 tests to go. Also, dont enroll into excesior college until after you have taken all prereqs and 2 or 3 nursing exams. They charge you $900 to enroll then $440 for every year that you are enrolled. Trying to help you save some money.
Save more money by not signing a contract with The College Network. You can buy their study guides used on ebay for a few dollars, same material, no binding $5000 + contract.
