Hello! I start my RN/FNP program in January and as pre-licensure students we have to wear white scrubs. So far every brand is very nearly see-through. Other than beige underwear or pantyhose underneath, are there any brands that are a thicker material?
Thanks
At my hospital all nurses have to wear white scrubs. Patients were complaining they couldn't tell who was who so now each department has their own color.. nurses - white, all medical imaging - blue, ICU - gray/pink, PT - black, etc. White isn't that bad. About being see-through...not a huge deal. Although most of them are a bit transparent, it's no big thing. Underwear-wise, boy shorts work the best. Don't wear your pants tight and you can't see any lines at all. I don't even wear white and can get away with it. Not saying bright pink is a good choice but I wear gray and it works just fine. The worst part about white is that I'm always getting stains on them. Thank goodness for Clorox bleach pens :)
I just went for my uniform fitting last week.....all white scrubs. And it is not like we can just get whatever brand we want. The school has 2 specific pants for women to choose from, and one top. Fortunately it is a tunic style top, so a tad longer. Though yes even a white top is transparent. I wore a pair of underwear that I had gotten hoping they would work well with the white pants, and they did. The pants were still transparent enough that you could tell where the fabric of the pants was 2 layers thick around seams (so whiter) and where it was only 1 layer thick (so very transparent) but you couldnt see my underwear. Was nude boyshorts http://www.avenue.com/clothing/Seamless-Boyshort-Panty.aspx?PfId=175227&DeptId=21222&ProductTypeId=1&PurchaseType=0&pref=pvp though from there is only size 14 and up.
Had worn a white bra and did find could completely see the outline of my bra. Nude colored bra might have been ok, i dont know....but i plan on wearing at least a tank, if not a 3/4 sleeve tee

I found wearing the tank tops a must :)

They are nice, on the thicker side. I don't go to orientation for my BSN program that starts on 1/17 until the first week in January. I was told we may be doing a group order but white scrub pants and white scrub pants. With our program, I may be the only one from my school at my clinical site too. I ordered some Urbane draw string (and yeah they are transluscent sigh). I know when I wear a white tee, my nude bra is less noticeable than my white bra so I'll have to nude color thong it:uhoh3: What other choice do I have lol? I may have to do some more shopping to find something thicker. I'm also mega worried about that time of the month! I actually asked if they'd let us wear navy blue bottoms during that time. I can see it now (Whispering) "There's that CCU girl. She must be on the rag because she's got on navy blue bottoms, which only happens 5 days a month" (Chuckle)
