Which reserves branch is least likely to go active?

Published

If I choose to join the reserves as an operating room RN, which military branch is LEAST likely to force me to go active?

Then why do people join the reserves if they are willing to go active?

I am willing to be deployed, and would if called, but I would prefer not to.

I liked the military enough to want to do it part time.

That's the rationale for my question.

You sorta contradict yourself with your own comments by first asking why people would join reserves if willing to go active, as if meaning that not willing to go active is the reasoning you would see for joining reserves over active military, thus being your intrest in reserves....but then you state you are willing to if called to.

But regardless....you would PREFER not to......guess what... I'm pretty sure almost every person in the military, active or reserve, would PREFER not to be deployed.

I don't think you've done much research because you seem quite mistaken as to what the reserves are.

As others have stated, I think the chances these days of not getting deployed in any branch is pretty slim.

What I meant was why would be people who are willing to be active duty join the reserves. And the question was answered.

I agree. And I don't think they should be ashamed of themselves.

On second thought, there are a good number of troops who DO want to be deployed.

Anyway, I AM WILLING to be deployed, but I would PREFER to work part time stateside.

That's why I am on this message board right now.

Thank you for answering. Do you think the odds are exactly equal no matter which branch?

Also, can someone tell me how to delete posts? I need to consolidate my posts so I don't take up so much room.

Who knows. You stated you have been there before, you should know how it works. If you join any branch of the military including National Guard or Reserve, you should do so with the expectation that you WILL deploy.

I only know how the ARMY works. And I was enlisted in the past in combat arms.... not an officer nurse.

Without research, I would probably say the Navy. But as you can see one of the poster's friend did get deployed in the navy. What about the coast guard?

The coast guard has RN's? That might be cool.

I do not think the Coast Guard or Marines commissions registered nurses. As a nurse, you can look at Army, Navy or Air Force. Clearly, the reserve or NG component of these branches is what this thread addresses.

Not sure..just shooting it out for thought.
