I only know how the ARMY works. And I was enlisted in the past in combat arms.... not an officer nurse.

What I meant was why would be people who are willing to be active duty join the reserves. And the question was answered. I agree. And I don't think they should be ashamed of themselves. On second thought, there are a good number of troops who DO want to be deployed. Anyway, I AM WILLING to be deployed, but I would PREFER to work part time stateside.

I am willing to be deployed, and would if called, but I would prefer not to. I liked the military enough to want to do it part time. That's the rationale for my question.
