Which plan of study would you choose?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hello everybody

My adviser gave me 2 types of study plan for the entire ASN program prerequisites. Which one would you choose?

Spring: student development / gen bio

Summer: A&P1 / comp

Fall: A&P2 / gen psy / nutrition

Spring: Micro / developmental psy / music app

Or

Sprng: student development / comp / gen psy

Summer: Gen bio / developmental psy

Fall: A&P1 / nutrition/ music appreciation

Spring: A&P2 / Micro

Again i didnt realize you were doing summer too. In that case, option 2. Its alot of work [summer classes] but psychology is a good choice to take during the summer, as long as you participate and meet the assignments and quizzes.

Thank you guys

I checked my college course schedule and ratemyprofessor.com.

Unfortunately all good biology teachers are already taken. For psy and comp I have more options though.

Does really those ratings matter? Should I just go for highest rating teacher?

Often the instructors with the worst reviews are the best instructors, that will expect a lot out of you, and help you to learn and grow as a student. Lots of little snowflakes leave bad reviews for these "unfair" teachers. Are they the easiest? No. But you walk away with a better knowledge base and better critical thinking skills. These are classes that you don't just get to forget after you're done. You will need this knowledge for the rest of your career.

I agree with the first option. I did A&P in the summer. Very fast paced, but you can definitely do well with a little effort. As for the rate my professor, I agree with the post above. Many times the instructors with the harsh tatings are more difficult but you actually learn more. I can't fault you for looking for the easier classes though as GPA is a huge deal. Read the actual content in the reviews, both good and bad to get perspective and to gauge the teachers style to make an informed decision. Another thing to look at is available seats remaining. More often than not the class with the least seats are the more desireable classes, often for the teacher and sometimes just because the class has the best class hours.

I would go with option 1. I hate taking 2 sciences together. It's easier - to me - to take a science class over the summer semester than take two at the same time during a regular semester.

Thank you for your answer

I am taking EAP (English for non-native speakers) courses right now and everything people said on ratemyprofessor.com was true about my teachers  So I decided to be more carful when I'm choosing a class.

I've found rate my professor to be very accurate for my school. You can't just look for 5.0 ratings, you need to read the comments and review the level of difficulty. I don't want an easy teacher - I want someone who challenges me. I think it's a very effective tool if you use it properly. Recommendations from other teachers and classmates is a good way to get a feel for a teacher, too.

I agree no way I want t do a&p 2 with micro plus you need a chemistry might as well do 151 so it transfers toward a BSN

you're right.

Honestly I'm not sure if I'm going for bsn (which needs chemistry) or ASN. In my college you don't need to take chemistry or math for ASN.

Thank you Jen

you're right.

I agree 100%. My teacher for A&P 2 is more difficult because none of his tests are multiple choice so it actually ensures I know the material well. But he is a great teacher and I have learned alot. However, you need to balance difficulty and making an A. The grade is what makes you competitive. You can't argue toughness of your teacher on the transcripts. You can always study up and learn on your own time if you feel you need to reinforce what you've learned, but if a teacher is difficult for most students I wouldn't recommend them as it may keep your gpa down.

I completely agree. I prefer a class with many quizzes because I study harder under the pressure.
