Where do you purchase your scrubs???

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Hi - I know that this isn't exactly related to life as a CNA, but I'm very, VERY new to all of this. I was wondering where you buy your scrubs? Like, we have a store that sells scrubs in our local mall & they are SO EXPENSIVE! I've read that several people purchase their's through allheart.com & I was wondering if any of you order through Jasco Uniform Co.? Also, how do I know what kind of stethescope I need to get? & which kind of shoes are the best to wear? I thought this would be a good place to get some of these questions answered. I hope you don't mind me posting here...

Thanks so much!

-Becky

i like uniformadvantage.com

they have low rise flare leg dickies in long.

i think they were 19.99. 17.99 if you don't need long.

i like scrublovers.com for nice scrubs but wallmart sells cheap ones that are nice 14.00 for the top and 14.00 for the bottom they have the wrap around style, plain colours and prints

Specializes in LTC.
http://www.marcusuniforms.com/ they got all the name brands for a heck of a lot less than most places.

Got my scrubs for LPN school at WorK N Gear (chain store) the bottoms were $9.99 and the tops $9.99 too. Not too bad. And they are nice looking..and soft!!

I'd suggest trying scrubs on before ordering them online. Some run big some don't. I have XS in one brand and S in another and still in some XS is too big. In one brand regular length fits me fine in others I need a petite.

Once you try them on, get the sizes and the maker of the scrub..along with the type..and then you can order them online if its cheaper that way.

Shoes I would suggest a good walking sneaker. I've used nursing shoes, clogs, and sneakers. My feet always feel better at the end of the day when I wear a good walking sneaker.

A steth..most LTC's have one available w/the bp cuff. If not, if you don't have to check breath sounds etc and are only using it for BP's..you can go with a cheaper one.

Yeah, i'm 6ft 3 180 pounds(skinny) i can't wait to try and find scrubs that fit me like i want..... :/

I know when i worked for Honda, my uniforms were a pain to get right,

SmartScrubs (online and in brick-and-mortar stores in AZ and CA) has excellent scrubs. I am tall, and their own line (S.C.R.U.B.S.) is perfect for me (has a 34-inch inseam). Their fabrics are soft and durable, and the sewing is top-notch ---takes a beating and holds up. They cost a little more, but I think they are worth it.

So far, I have only bought from them at the brick-and-mortar store. At the store, the clothes are about $1 more per item. BUT --you can get a coupon in the mall for 15% off ---which adds up quick. The brick-and-mortar store also price matches (and will give you a discount after the price matching to boot!) ----I took in information from allheart.com for a Littman stethoscope and they matched it and gave me that 15% discount. --I got a stethoscope that some stores retail for about $65 for about $34! Pretty cool.

If you elect to buy online from SmartScrubs.com, sign up for their e-mail information first. They send out a coupon code for free shipping. They also advertise that if you buy three of their S.C.R.U.B.S. tops, you get $10 off the third one (I have seen that advertised in their catalog and in their brick-and-mortar store).

My best advice when it comes to shoes, try them on at the scrub shop and then find them online. Its usually significantly cheaper to order them. allheart.com will have about anything you want. When it comes to your steth, ask your employer if you need one or not. If you just need one for class, allheart has one for like $10 that will get you through clinicals.

my problem has always been that i cannot find scrubs in the colors i need for my place of employment. We get three colors to choose from and they are supposed to be exact. They order theirs through Cherokee and the online store doesn't even carry two of the colors. So my choices are go to a scrub store with my scrubs to compare colors or order through my job, but always the same style. argh.

How hard is it to make your own scrub tops? I know some people choose to do this instead but I'm just curious if it is hard to follow the pattern?

www.lydiasuniforms.com They have Dickie's and some really cute uniforms. They also have some super soft pants. Huge selection.

If you are looking for cheap try www.taffard.com Their catalog is divided into 2 sections, the first being more expensive and the second being cheap. You can get a pair of pants and a top for $10 each. But you get what you pay for. They don't last too long.

For stores I go to Scrubs and Beyond. I also think they have a website but I've never used it. Why pay shipping when it's 15 mins away?

I've also bought NEW scrub tops on ebay. I bought one that was in the Lydia's catalog for $23 and got it new on ebay for $8, including shipping.
