Hello,
I am wondering what kind of opportunities will be out there fresh out of school. I really, really, really dont want to do LTC. Its way to depressing for me...I was a volunteer for LTC for years and don't think I could work in LTC as a career.
Thanks!

I'm a new grad LPN and I work in the Neuroscience unit of a Magnet Hospital. Of course, different hospitals around the country have different policies, but in the hospital I work at LPNs can work almost anywhere!

VA and military hospitals are great places to start. They will help pay some of your bills (yep) and pay for continueing your education. Talk to their recruiters. Plenty of opps.

i am working in the county juvenile detention facility. I love it! You have alot of autonomy there, work independently, and no grunge work that you do in ltc...no lifting, no turning. If you are not scared of people who have committed a crime correctional nursing, is not hard work and can be gratifying.

Hi! lpns are also 'use to the max' here in ga too. no nurse practice act for lpns in this state, guess that is how they do it. i work er and the only thing we are not allowed to do is triage-so we do it all, team leader during codes, pushing code drugs, using vasoactive drips, defibbing people, u name it. it all depends on your state and your hosp policy. good luck!
