Hello All Florida Nurses & Travelers

I want everyone to be Upfront & Honest With this One! Where is the Absolute WORST PLACE to work as an RN, Or as a Nurse in General In any part of Florida? I want to know of any places that I should avoid, such as Backbreaking work, Low Pay, Poor Staffing, anything considered Negative or Unsuitable. Also, High Liability too. I would much rather hear it straight from the horses mouth instead of finding out the hard way! All Honest Opinions & Personal Experiences will be Greatly Appreciated! If anyone wants to know about California, just ask. Please Respond. Thanks;)

I keep seeing HCA.. this may sound silly but what does that stand for??

Not silly at all! HCA = Hospital Corporation of America. :)

St. Joes hospital I hear is pretty nice to work at, esp. children's.

I will avoid Miami Home Health care is collapsing, the corruption in the health system is crazy. Most Home Health are closing down. Hospitals are laying off personnel and sticking to RN's that have been there for long time. Low pay, hard work with MD's and Nurses, Cna's who are grumpy and very stressed at all times. The traffic sucks, you waste 2 hrs each way at least to get from point A to point B, hot as hell and to me it just looks like a 3rd world country.

Miami does not look like a third world country. :mad:If you don't like been around Spanish people then you don't have any business moving down here. NEXT!

Just moved to jacksonville....how about the hospitals here???

I think Mayo Clinic is one of the best hospitals you could be at. I am speaking personally as a patient. The care I received was tremendous. The whole mayo team of nurses, doctors, patient care techs, etc. were all outstanding. Of course, I have never worked there, but I hope to when I graduate nursing school.

 defensive much? Have you been to some parts of the county lately? They make the projects look like they're the Dubai Towers. Also, I'm pretty sure the reference was regarding the state of the health care economy what with all the medicaid/medicare fraud based in Miami.

Ximena did make quite a few exaggerated generalizations, and while Miami is the worst job market in the country, and isn't for everyone, your experience will largely be what you make of it.

stay away from gainesville and naples those two are by far the worst place in florida to work in besides for any HCA hospitals...if you're a nurse just plain stay away from florida!!!

NCH nurses are rude, mean, disrespectful, and in need of attitude ajustmnets!!!!

HCA Tenet HMA Broward Miami

I didn't read all 15 pages so perhaps this one has already been mentioned.

The very worst place to work for in Florida is Maxim health care services

Having had worked at Baptist Health I can tell you it is no longer the best place to work. Magnet is a disaster! Patient to nurse ratios are often dangerous. Too many chiefs and not enough bedside. If you have a concern or problem management throws it back in YOUR lap to be fixed. In that way you wont express your concerns .It is brilliant! That is what Baptist is all about, false sense of RN's having influence. Their is no staff relief , per diem's and part-time are a rare thing and young moldable nurses are their preference. Not a good place if you are a mom with young kids. Propaganda is thrown at you at work and at home. It seems to me if you are "the best place to work" you shouldn't have to aggressively convince everyone that you are.
