I am in need of renewing my BLS and interested in getting my ACLS. I am a new grad (May of 08) from out of state and not currently working so I don't have an employer to go through. Can someone tell me where I can renew my BLS and how to obtain an ACLS on my own in the Boston area?
I have Googled this information and have found classes through UMASS that do not fit my schedule and a couple in the Springfield area, which is too far for me to drive. It seems as though there should be more classes that I am just not finding by searching the internet.
Thanks for any information!

Here's a list of ACLS classes in MA with AHA: http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jhtml?identifier=3011128&_requestid=512944

try this link- it's from the AHA website:

Also, many training institutions that teach EMT and paramedic courses also teach ACLS and BLS/CPR. The Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS) has a list of these institutions/companies and their websites/phone numbers. Go to http://www.mass.gov/dph/oems and scroll down until you see the "Quick Links" section- under "Quick Links" should be a link entitled "EMT Training Institutions." The institutions are organized by region- so click on the region that's most convenient for you. Good luck. Hope this helps.

I'm actually going to the class tonight in Weymouth--they have classes in Kingston, Weymouth and Hyannis (I see you're on the South Shore). I can post how it went later.

One of these actually works for me. I really should be at the one you are attending, but got to your post too late.
Please let me know what you thought of the class.
Thanks for the info!

The class was GREAT!! The instructor was very clear, easy to follow and kept our attention. Lots of demos and practice time--couldn't have gone better!!

hi,
Just some advice, make sure you have a good understanding of cardiac arrythmias as you need to know that ahead of time. They do not teach you how to interpret rhythm strips in ACLS, you must bring that knowledge with you.

I have a dumb question....if your have a current ACLS do you also need to renew your BLS?
Yes, they do not teach CPR in ACLS and in order to take ACLS or to recertify you must have a current CPR card.

Does anyone have any info on the North Shore? I took ACLS back over 10 years ago and now want to renew. I got a book to read/review called ACLS study guide by B. Aehlert. It looks really good. What do they look for in ACLS testing these days? I feel if I take it then I am more marketable. I have a lot to relearn.
This website doesn't seem to work for me. Comes up blank.
