Where is everyone from?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

hello everyone! :D

i am from norman, oklahoma. i am in my middle 20's trying to go back to school (lpn nursing school that is) then possibly rn school after i get on with a hospital. i have been out of college for 5 years and it is a little hard to go back. i have to get motivated to suceed. my parents do not want me to be a nurse. they think it is too dangerous of a career, might catch some kind of cauntagious sickness or disese. i want more than anything to be able to help people and have a better meaning in life. i want a great career that i can be proud of and other people will be proud of me. i know it is hard to get into nursing school, but i can do anything if i work hard and put my mind to it. i would love to make some new online friends, no matter where your from or what kind of nursing. let me know.

where are you from? what is your current situation?

i am studying for the act compass and about to take medical terminology and try to go to a votech probably.

thanks for reading, please respond. :)

Another Sooner! I am in Oklahoma City and we are in Norman alllll the time :) Small world huh? I am pretty familiar with most of the ADN and BSN program around here (not all) so PM me anytime or if you just want to chat.

I am at University of Central Oklahoma up in Edmond and enjoy it there. It is not that competitive to get into their program (and we have a lot of students who drive up from Norman), last year they had 208 applicants for 80 seats which compared to OU isn't anything (1,000 applicants!).

I think the only ADN program that requires you to take the ACT is Redlands in El Reno....UCO you have to take the TEAS and OU there is no testing requirements for application.

Welcome! I am 32 years old, married for almost 11 years with 2 little girls ages 7 and 4.

Oh let me mention something, my nursing instructor not too long ago mentioned there were sooooo many LPN students and not enought jobs for them here, she quoted the stats but I can't remember but the job openings were far less than students graduating. Make sure you look into that before spending your money on an LPN program, just want to give you a heads up.

Hi everyone, I am a stay at home mother of 2 kids, 3 and 6 yrs. old. I have been taking night classes for my prerequs for almost 2 years.I have 3 more classes after AP1 that I'm in now . I am trying to time it so that I'll begin full time RN program when my youngest is in kindergarten. Nice to meet everyone!

Wow, Springfield Mo is a popular place:chuckle I've been here for 8years now, my baby was born here, and we're finally about to leave. Not a bad place...I would just prefer to live elsewhere...closer to family

Nice to meet you too! Thanks for the reply! I am glad you can relate. I am actually about to go to work, retail sales right now. Still studying for the ACT. Do you know what score you have to make on the ACT to make it into nursing school? I am afraid of failure. I have always done great in school. Thanks again! Have a great day! :)

No, I had to take the NET as my pre entrance test. Sorry:(

Hello, I am from Michigan. I am 32 years old, married with no childern. I am taking my last class (a&pII) so I can apply to the nursing program at the end of this semester. I work fulltime at the community college where I take classes as a custodian. It took me a long time to settle on nursing as a career, because everyone (except my husband) tries to talk me out of it! I know that they only do that out of concern for me, but jeez, do they think being a custodian is a glamorous job?! lol Good luck to everyone!

I am 32/Male was in nursing one at the age of 22 and dropped out (yh, I know) now going back again but I am alot more determined then I was then. From Middletown, NY area.

I'm 31, from southeast MO and am a SAHM of a 3 yr old. I'm finishing up my pre-reqs in order to apply this summer for the spring 07 ADN program. I started college fresh out of HS, did horribly, & now that I have my head on straight (a family will do that too ya ;)), I'm back at it.

Hi! I am a 23 year old BSN student from Manila, Philippines.

Yeah I also want to work abroad, but in reality working here is really a fulfillment! I also graduated from a pre-medical course then I took up nursing instead of continuing to college of medicine primarily because I am excited to work as a health professional. With college of medicine it would probably take another 4 years to actually render care to patients. =)

I am 29 years old from East Tennessee. I have been married 10 years and have four children ages 9, 7, 3, and 1. My dream was to be a stay at home mother for the rest of my life until I had an early midlife crisis and decided right after Christmas that I was going to finally deal with that other dream in the back of my mind of being a midwife. So, now I'm in school and loving it.

I really felt old when I first started this. Glad to know that many of you are my age as well.

Wow, I'm glad I found this post! I'm from WV (Clarksburg area) and I'm 24 and planning on getting a degree in nursing after I have my baby in july. I'm applying to an LPN program and an ADN Rn program at a local college, we'll see which one takes me first. My goal is to become an RN, I haven't decided what field of nursing I want to focus on yet, I want to experience all of it. I went to college for 3 yrs right out of high school and quit after that. Now I'm getting married next month and having a baby in July and have decided I want to finally get a nursing degree. Yeah, becoming a mom does put your head on straight, but I really can't wait to be a nurse!!!Good luck to everyone!!! We will make it!

Hello, I am currently living in Landstuhl, Germany, We have lived here for 4 years and are moving to Ft. Rucker, Alabama in May where I plan to put in a application to a ADN program. I am 34 and have been taking my pre-req over since there is no nursing program. I have always wanted to go into nursing but since my husband is military we are always moving. I am not letting anything stop me from trying this time. I feel if I dont at least try this I will regret it til the day I die. I have tried many different fields of work but I still keep going back to wanting a nursing degree. So I guess its my calling. I feel as if I am getting too old as well to do this but like I said if I dont I will hate myself.

Good luck

Amy
