When circ's go bad...

Has anyone seen a circ go really bad? I saw one today where the doc took too much foreskin off and the skin on the shaft ended up "degloving" from the fascia underneath. A urologist had to come in and do "damage control." The people I've talked with say they've never seen anything like this happen before.

My point is, no one said a man with a foreskin compared his sexual experience to one who has no foreskin. It's about how high two groups of men, one with foreskins and one without rate their own sexual experiences. For example, men without foreskins may rate their love of sex at a 7, while men with foreskins tend to rate their love of sex at 9; hence, the men without foreskins rate their sexual satisfaction higher.

Fine. I thought we beat this one to death already...didn't we?

Not quite sure since you are the one who before that made a statement regarding it..

Can we please close this thread, we are just discussing the same things over and over.:deadhorse

According to your profile...you live in Finland. I am sure that our cultures think about circumcisions in different ways. My son is circumcised and all my future ones will be too. As a woman...an uncircumcised member disgusts me. No offense to anyone! Have you ever perform peri care on one of these patients who neglect to clean it themselves!!!!! YUCK! WAY worse than circed!!

Yup I'm not used to circumsised memberes, never even seen one. All I see is a newborn who has a part of them cut off. I have read various reasons why people do it but still cant understand it.

I highlighted that this was my personal opinion. I dont think people who have their sons circumsised are abusers (someone asked), I just see a kid being hurt. Maybe that's not such a clear thought but frankly my original post came after I read through almost all the thread and I was feeling emotional.

As for pericare on uncircumsised memberes, well that's all I've ever done. Atm I work in LTC and the memberes I've encountered in there are all in fine condition (I read on another board someone's argument being that the foreskin should be cut to prevent any infection setting in from bad hygene once the guy ends up in a nursing home).

TweetiePieRN, I'm curious why you find uncircunsised member yucky. Is it because you've seen too many dirty ones, because it has extra flesh hanging there or some other reason?

I don't think she accused anyone of abuse, just said she personally thought it was abusive. Is this really any different from parents who think spanking is abuse? It's just an opinion. I have said I think it's morally wrong. Does that mean I think parents who circ are immoral? No. It means I wouldn't do it because it doesn't fit with MY moral beliefs.

I think calling a normal body part disgusting is harsh too, but that doesn't mean someone else has that opinion and it doesn't have to affect me.

Yes that's correct. Thank you for putting it into better wording.

Good morning. I am not sure how they do them over there in Finland, but over here there is anesthesia for the baby. My son had a block, and he slept thru the entire procedure (my mom was in the room with him). Afterwards he never showed any signs of pain or distress. He was just as mellow as he was before the procedure. Over here people usually circumcise at birth or shortly thereafter. My son was 7 or 8 days old.

All the reasons you mentioned are the reason. My husband is circ'ed so I probably never have to worry about ever thinking about this as a real issue for me. (If we remain married forever of course).

Actually, all babies are not given anesthesia or a pain block. We have one doc who refuses to use lidocaine or any pain med at all.

I realize that not ALL babies get the anesthesia...that is why I didn't include the word "all" in my post. I was aware of this when choosing my child's pediatrician. I chose the pediatrician for many reasons...but the fact that he does use the block was why he was chosen over the other 1 I narrowed it down to.
