When is the best time to apply for nursing school?

Published

Hello,

I am a currently enrolled at Hcc right now. I have another year of pre reqs but i wont be done until the summer of 2011. I am confused about how i should apply to nursing school. Will the school still accpet me even though i wont be done until the summer and some pre reqs will be missing from my transcript. So what should i do? I am afraid i wont be accpeted into any nursing schools. I am looking at the University of Phoenix, and South University. Also, i am not a stong math studnt, but i do excel in science, will me being a weak math student prevent me from getting accepted? Also, what other good nursing programs in Tampa are also good for me to look at.

Sorry for all the questions, but i would greatly appreciate it if they were answered.

Thank You,

Reem Kader

Hi, i think that it would be up to your school. for my school we need only 16 science credits and a 3.0 gpa science and cummulative...and we have to apply before the deadline...so it would be up to your school really

Is that Haywood Community College?

No, its Hillsborough Community College in Florida. I attend the campus in brandon. Im just afraid that when i apply i wont get accepted because i wont be done until that summer, when i would be applying for the fall semester.

Ok,im applying to uf in the fall most likely.im a freshman, but i only need classes in the spring, summer, and fall before i can apply.Im actually applying to UF,FSU,nova,um,and fccj(safe school).Im actually really excited. (: University of Phoenix you couldve just gone there after high school for nursing. But you should get your BSN anyways since hospitals prefer BSN's anyways.

Okay thanks. I was wondering, do i have to be a registered nurse in order to get into University Of Phoenix in tampa, or can i just apply to their nursing school to get my BSN for nursing.

If HCC is like SPC then the more pre-reqs you've completed as well as your GPA is what they'll consider in your application for the RN program. Check with HCC to see what the deadlines are for application submission, this should be on their website.

You need to consider the cost of U of Phoenix or other private colleges vs HCC and USF. Why take out a massive amount of student loans when you can get the same education for a lot less at a public college.

Thats true. The only school I would consider taking out a loan for would be South University Nursing school. Thanks for the help, im just scared that I wont get accepted anywhere.
