What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

There is somebody in my church named YorMajesty

I wasn't fully awake this morning when the name, "Bean" suddenly went through my head. I have no explanation for it. :D

ahh Fran nothing wrong with that, I frequently have the name "Bean" in my head..well because its my nickname for my oldest daughter. I've called her "Bean" since the day I saw her on the first ultrasound..I said so "that little Bean looking thing is my baby hu?" And its been Bean ever since. But she does have a very unique and pretty first name, but I'm usually yelling for BEAN!

Meconium.

Honest. The patient said she'd heard us using the word and thought it was so pretty.

Oh dear.

I highly doubt these are more than an urban myth they've been repeated so often but you never know. So I think the new rule should be unless you have seen this WITH YOUR VERY OWN EYES BECAUSE YOU WORK IN OB and actually took care of a child (and I mean hands on care) with one of these monikers please refrain from perpetuating the story. Carry on!

Actually, I was working as the night charge nurse in labor and delivery at Charity Hospital, New Orleans in 1974.

I remember the lady quite well. She was a G19 P19 on the day she delivered meconium.

Sorry to disappoint you, but this one is genuine.

Didn't say that it wasn't possible just unlikely there were as many as it might appear by the number of people posting the same names over and over. Way back in 1974 I could believe definitely believe it and in New Orleans even more so (I know NOLA like the back of my hand, have had family there since the 1950's. Any place that could produce Ruthey the Duck Lady would have a Meconium too lol) Besides you are following the rule with your addition since you were actually there! I'm not disappointed at all.

Holy poop! There's a PPH waiting to happen with G19P19 Eeeesh!

I knew a baby boy named Justin Time Farmer. First, middle and last.

My husband's middle name is Lynn. It's an old family name. He wanted to pass it down to our son. I agreed because it's his family name..what can I say? But, he really liked the name Cole. So he wanted to name him Cole lynn. I said,"No. you're not naming my baby Colon." lol. He grumbled a bit. He settled for Cole Edgar. His middle name is Edgar after his great grandpa.
