What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

I had patient that named her daughter Latreena Urine ( pronounced "your-een") .

Another patient named her daughter Shanotta said it stood for should not of got pregnant.

Oh boy, some people really need to learn this is not the time to be funny.

Was talking with my NM this weekend about our Cocaine Lucifer (she was out for the entire week) and she pulled out a list of "Baby Mama Drama" - it had names on it from her tenure at the hospital, and the first one was Abcde - Several of the older nurses were craking up remembering that family - seems that name has gotten around. Another at our hospital was Espn - pronounce Es-pen. But not a single one on there topped baby Cocaine.

I may already have posted it here in this thread, but I know of a little boy named Ozzy. Not John Michael, which is the Oz-man's real name, but OZZY.

I had a little pt named Manmeet. I knew that it was a foreign name, but it still got snickers every time she came in.

I also had a pt named Yurhighness. Reminded me of Jermaine Jackson's "Jermajesty".

When I worked clinic, I couldn't get over how many people would be offended when we mispronounced their or their child's name. When your name is 15 letters long and has only two vowels in it we try our best but sometimes we are going to miss it. No disrespect meant at all.

Thing is, calling a child "Your Highness" or "Your Majesty" is NOT generally a term of endearment.
