What's the weirdest baby name?

Specialties Ob/Gyn Nursing Q/A

Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!

When we get ACOG records from the dr's offices we start a file on the pt so that we can pull their records and looking thru them one night we had a "Kizzy" "Kibble" and "Sparkle" All at the same time... I thought hmm I wonder who/what they were named for. When Kibble finally showed up to deliver I asked about her name saying it was unique and she said that her dad liked the word "kibble" like the dog food so that's what they named her. She named her daughter something very common. Maybe Madison or something so obviously she wasn't too crazy about her unique name...

I know a girl named Jade Emerald Greene...pathetic.

Have known some twins to be Jonas and Jason, Michael and Micheal (Michelle), and Aidan and Nadia (spelled backwards)....

Actually, I like each name individually, but the whole package is just CORNY........IMHO.

I worked with a girl named Krystle. Sisters were Fallon and Alexis, brother was Blake.

Sound familiar? Hint: they were all born in the 80s....;)

Ahh, the themed baby names...gotta love it. Nothing like a good gimmick to identify your child to the world.

Specializes in LTC / SNF / Geriatrics.

My daughter named her first born - Dayona Jolee (pronounced day-ahna). I think it's pretty. Jolee isn't after Angelina either - it's after g'pa's first name, Joe, and g'ma's middle name, Lee. Don't know where she got Dayona from. (People want to pronounce it like Daytona).

Specializes in nursery, L and D.

Something interesting, in NC the birth cert. can't have a punctuation in the name, and I see lots of moms that are really mad about it too! (we have lots of punctuation names)
