Redundant documentation. We have two browsers ,one is the MAR/TAR and the other is for progress notes, demographics, etc.AND we still have paper charts. We spends a lot of time toggling back and forth or documenting info in 3 places.....Oh,and dealing with the family who believes their loved one is the only patient deserving of care...The family who claim one of them is their at least twice a day "helping mother" but no-one ever sees them. The ones who claim they never see anyone else visit as much as they do.(they don't,cause they are not there )Hi there!what is the most tedious (and perhaps time consuming) part of your daily routine in a nursing home?
It would be interesting to share, compare, and maybe even see if others do it in a better way.

I left the nursing home setting in early 2012, but medication pass was the most tedious task of each shift. Unrealistic families were also tiring to the soul.
Medicare charting was another bear due to its very specific requirements. If you do not chart in accordance to Medicare's standards, the facility doesn't get paid.
Dealing with ," That one family member " -you know the one that has nothing else in life to do ,but hang around the nursing home. As, I said before , I have been around and " That family member " is at all LTC facilities -Who's job is to bug you everyday about something ,and don't be the new nurse. As, for paper work ,among other things , it's going to be what it's going to be. Heck, I use to have 60-64 pts by myself-admissions , people going out to the ER ,and at the end of the day-I miss a few meds here ,dressings there , and maybe some paper work -Come On ! They eat these meds day in and day out . What complain ? Yeah, right ! Just take care of the wheels that makes the most noise. Matter of fact , I quit a 5 star (really had 5 stars) let the chips fall dump , that paid really well and they just wanted nurses to show up -even late. No back door over time too . I was young ( early 90's) ,and thought it was going to be better out there -Not ! Could have been watching even more Netflix .
