What's your most ridiculous supply shortage?

I'll start:

*FFP (fresh frozen plasma)--instead for a time we were giving Factor VII for DIC

*NG feeding tubes--we're leaving in the 24-hr ones in for days, and rinsing/reusing the 30-day ones that get accidentally pulled out

*IV lipids--we had to give a lipid alternative

*Not super crucial, but bathtub liners for the little portable multi-patient bathtub that we use to bathe our neonates--we lined the tub with trash bags instead

It's rough out there. How are you guys holding up?

We are short on intelligent hospital staff

@Vampiregirl: I did use 18G 1" to draw up medications sometimes. 1.5" seems excessive though. ?

Seems as if "pillows" is the winner! Who would've guessed?

When I worked in the hospital we always had to go searching through the hospital for IV infusers. Definitely pillows, and also enough staff, LOL.

Soap for the patient's to wash with. Pillows, blankets. But yeah, that's psych for ya.

Early in the pandemic, rationed and reused N95 masks due to critical shortages.  This ¢45 item nearly brought health care workers to their knees for a time and absolutely highlighted the need to bring manufacturing (especially crucial items) back to the US.  Does anyone else ever wonder about the quality and sterility of medical goods and pharmaceuticals manufactured in second and third world countries?
