Ever increasing workload. (Just got back from a meeting in which we were told that we have 2 more forms to fill out every shift on every pt.)

High nurse to pt ratios without enough support staff. I had to do total care on 6 patients for the entire 12 hour shift last week.

Seriously ill patients requiring almost 1:1 care on a med surg floor, which means my other 5 or 6 patients don't get the care they need.

Well, just for tonight........being put on call instead of working. On call for like 2 bucks an hour. I will pay them 2 bucks an hour NOT to be on call.

You get paid $2 to be on call? WOW! I get $1.25, and get called OFTEN with silly questions, and only get paid more if I have to go in. I'd say I spend 2-3 hours on the phone in an 8 hour on-call period! (actually, I did...I don't work there anymore :D )
