  1. @mikeru22: thanks for your reply! i've been waiting for them to call for almost 1 and 1/2 years and counting.. i was quite worried though if they are still calling anyone... @thorabeech wow! glad to hear this good news.. hopefully, anytime this year, they will be calling us for our final interview.
  2. hi any news about the final interview? i had my panel interview last june 2011. still no feedback about the final interview though.
  3. has anyone tried submitting their requirements this week or are they still open/accepting requirements? thanks. :)
  4. from what i know, iv insertion is an invasive procedure that would require the consent of the parents. Maybe you should tell your friend to check the forms of the chart. Some institutions actually protect their staff by having an admission consent. Some indicates there that the patient might be subjected to an iv insertion etc. Although, of course not all invasive procedures are written, only those usual procedures. Some institution requires a separate sheet for CT scan etc. It is really important to explain the protocols of the hospital prior to admission. The responsibility of explaining the protocols should be made by the nurse. For chest xray, the patient/parents of neonate still have the right to refuse it and may do so if they wishes. A written consent is GENERALLY not required for chest x-rays. Anyway, just my 2 cents. Anyone with more experience can tell you more. :) Hope everything will be settled and good luck to your friend.
  5. thanks for your reply, naughtymakulet.. :) im hoping my application will be noticed. i mailed them my forms last january.. :) bibolen, try looking for the list of the hospital requirements in the search field. just type hospital requirements. then browse through it. im not sure if it's updated but at least, it's worth a try, right? :)
  6. hi... may i ask? how long should it take before they contact the applicant for interview or test? any replies would be appreciated. thanks! :-)
  7. Oopss.. did i convey a wrong message here? I never said that it's the nurses' fault. Let me also correct myself from one of my statements. "The hospitals are understaff, overworked and underpaid." It should be the hospitals are understaff. The nurses are overworked and underpaid. In my opinion, there's no oversupply. If you would want to give the best quality care to your patients, there should be an implemented nurse-patient ratio (depending on the severity of cases) here. You'll see how much staff they actually need in the hospitals especially in the government/public hospitals. 1 nurse: 20-25 patients... oh well...
  8. thanks for correcting me. hahaha! :)) my bad. :) i was too lazy to find the correct spelling of his last name. anyway, not that his last name is the main topic here. same with lactamase, i thought he was the advocate of 1:5 nurse-patient ratio. i guess we're wrong. he wrestled with the teachers and nurses before. tsk tsk! i hope someone will be fighting for the nurse staffing standards here in the philippines. :)
  9. i see... thank you for taking time in answering my queries.. :) i'm hoping and praying an opportunity will come.
  10. i just wanna share my story: i was a trainee for a well-known government hospital in the Philippines. The training has a fee. Anyway, to cut the story short, i heard one of the head nurse in one ward since she lacks staff in her ward, she was asking additional employees for her ward. I just like to tell you that staff nurses here also do their job unlike in those stories that i have read. one of the nursing administrators told her to count the staff nurses and the "trainees" as the workforce of that ward. so it just shows that if not for the trainees, they will need employees for that ward. Tsk tsk... actually there's no oversupply of nurses. The hospitals are understaff, overworked and underpaid. why not hire us nurses to ensure good quality health service is given to the people in need? *sigh*
  11. guys, question please... will they accept 1 year experience as a school nurse and 6 months training in a hospital setting or are they strict about the experience as staff nurse? can we pass the documents in the SRO or do we have to go to POEA? thanks in advance to those who will take time to answer my queries! :)
  12. during my training in a government hospital, 1 staff nurse handles around 17-18 patients in a medical surgical ward which includes 2 intubated patients. 1 staff nurse in the orthopedic ward handles 20 patients. those nurses in california are lucky enough to have Gov. Swasheneger to mandate that the ratio in a general ward is 1:5. it just shows that Filipino nurses are understaffed, underpaid and demoralized. tsk tsk! How can you give quality nursing care when you don't even have time for yourself? It's why Filipino nurses leave the Philippines not because they don't want to serve the country. It's because they feel they're more appreciated and are seen as professionals with dignity in other countries.

the dean's forms have control numbers that are only released upon the discretion of the DNET office. they hold the APCN program twice a year which means that they only release the forms twice a year. Last time, they only released 200 forms and selected the top 50 who took the exam. (The other criteria for selecting the 50 people are GWA and board rating.) Call their number and asked to be connected to the DNET office to make more inquiries. :) Good luck!
  14. Is their any ivt trainings near makati? TIA! :)

the coverage of exam: multiple choice and dosage of calculation. mostly about med-surg im not so sure about the next submission. they usually post it on the training board when you can get the dean's form or you may try calling their office. apcn is only held twice a year and you can only get the dean's form from the office. just for clarification the dean's form from the website of pgh is different from the dean's form for the training. the dean's form for the training is only limited. they only release 200 forms and out of the 200 applicants, 50 will be only selected for the training. their criteria will be your GWA, board rating and examination score. Good luck! :)
