What is Your School's Selection Rate?

Nursing Students General Students

Just curious. It was told to us yesterday during orientation that 112 RN student candidates were selected out of 1235 applications to nursing school. That is over a 90 percent rejection rate! Is it that comparable to get into other nursing schools?

My school accepts the top 40 and the semester I applied, they received 254 applications. I applied at the last minute and got accepted. When I told my friends and family I had gotten accepted, EVERYONE'S first response was 'are you taking prerequisites or are you in the program'? I was slightly offended. Why would I say that I was IN the program if I wasnt IN the program? *rolls eyes*

mines a ADN program and gets 900-1000 applications per year and accepts about 125 to the 2 year prob, and 25-ish to the 3 year program. the 125 is about 25 weekend group, 20-25 to the evening and the rest to the traditional group

Just to clarify -- this is for our ADN program. We also have an LPN program, but I'm not sure what the numbers look like for them.

It was about 3% for external applicants and 20% for internal applicants. Most merit based schools are 10-20% acceptance.

I got into a BSN program. My schools selections was open to all applicants. As long as you got into the university, and had the minimum TEAS and GPA then you could apply. The average GPA was 3.83 and avearage TEAS was 91% this incoming cohort. It was a tough one, but I made it in!

My school is fairly hard to get into. At one point in time there were over 400 on the waiting list, with 70 admitted each year. The waiting list is down to about 200 now, but they haven't accepted any new applications for over a year because they are switching to a point system.

Ours was about 900 applicant and around 120 accepted.....GOD MADE THIS HAPPEN FOR ME...congrats to all of us :)

Two out of the three schools I was accepted to did not "regect" anyone, one of them was an ADN program and it accepted everyone that completed the pre recs however there was a two year wait list :/. The other one is were I am attending now and it accepted everyone that completed high school and there wasn't any waiting list (the problem is that the school is in the middle of no were so no one wants to got there, however they have the highest NCLEX first attempt pass rate in the entire state at 94%!). The third school I was accepted to I am not sure how many exactly apply but it had to be in the hundreds and they only accepted 40.

My program was really hard to get into. I go to a university and the program takes about 40 people per semester. Normally students apply at the end of freshman year which is when I applied first. Unfortunately I didn't get in then because of my GPA (apparently the cut-off that semester was really high!). My school looks first (and mostly) at GPA. They go down the line (4.0, 3.9, etc.) and then also take into consideration the application essay. I was able to reapply last December and worked my butt off fall semester to bring up my GPA (most stressful time of my life!) and got in! Spring semester there were about 200 applicants and then in fall probably something like 150. I think what helped me the most was that when I applied they increased the number of spots from 40 to 48 because they temporarily got rid of the accelerated BSN program. While I'm a little bummed to be a semester behind, I am so happy to be in this program! It's one of the best in my state and the professors I've already met have been fantastic! I'm so excited to start classes this fall!

We had 140 apply and 30 accepted into our RN bridge program. I graduate in 3 in a 1/2 months!

Mine was a waitlist....not sure how many on the list. I was 200 I think...they let 40 per semester in. So I was a 3 semester wait.
