What do you wear to work, fellow aides?

Published

I've seen a few different uniforms for nursing assistants. What do you wear?

We wear turquoise scrub tops (can have black or white trim), any style, and any style black scrub pants (or capris, or we can roll them up to capris). We can wear any closed shoe. I wear all white, all leather athletic sneakers. On Fridays, we can wear any scrubs we want. We are technically allowed to wear jeans, but NO-ONE does.

I agree. I can't imagine working somewhere that didn't have SOME kind of uniformity, even if it were just "wear scrubs of some type."

I once worked in a dementia unit where we had to wear black pants and a polo shirt (any color). I hated it!

The RNs and LPNs wear all white scrubs/uniforms with white shoes. The CNA's wear light blue scrubs with white shoes.

When I was working as a CNA, I wore solid khaki scrubs (no colored trim allowed!), solid white shoes. SUCKED. I hate khaki.

Now I get to wear surgery scrubs, ciel blue! Much better. Still white shoes. I also have a knee-length white lab coat with our hospital's cardiology logo and my name.

Nurses wear solid navy blue, radiology wears teal, respiratory wears wine, phlebotomy wears royal blue. All with white shoes.

Our policy is that the uniform must be scrubs (any color), but it is not enforced. There are several CNAs that dress nicely in business casual, as I myself occasionally do. I hate scrubs. I wear real pants in lieu of scrub pants, but I can deal with scrub tops (I end up wearing the same few over and over again). Fridays are "street clothes" day -- you can wear any t-shirt or jeans you choose to. If they made us ever color-coordinate our scrubs, I would so rebel.

LOL how do you hate scrubs?

Most comfortable work uniform ever!!!

For the most part I am OK with tops. I'm very picky about the ones I will wear.

But the pants???

They just seem so thin and loose and unsupportive. And they feel like pajama pants. I like pants that have a tough and "solid feel" to them.

Fushia and lime green scrubs. Yeah. It's rough.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Imagine how I feel! Plus the print tops are full of spirals and big mismatched polka dots. Then to top it off the colors fade super fast. They always look spotty and dirty. Makes a girl feel special walking around in that!
